Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl! A Little Poem to Celebrate a Year's Worth of Wishes!
This week Miss Panda turns NINE! I can hardly believe how the time has flown by. You make me smile, laugh and I am so proud of you! Here’s a little poem for your birthday week.
Two little lines was all it took
To know you were mine
A heartbeat like a hummingbird,
Growing beneath mine
Expanding tummy, ballet kicks,
Arms, elbows and fists
Who would you be? Boy? Girl?
Welcome to the world, big brown eyes –
A GIRL for Mr and Mrs – our first child!
That first year of endless cuddling
Nursing and cooing, smiling and
Nursing some more, everywhere,
Anywhere. Growing! First giggle-
Crawling – backwards!
And teaching you sign language but
Surprise! First words at 6.5 months!
Mommy and Daddy are so proud.
Then, you talked and talked and talked…
And haven’t stopped, have you darling?
Toddler years, eventually you walked
In your “magic bubble suit”. Silly darling,
We knew you could, but the jig was up
If anyone saw you! Ooops you got caught.
Nothing could stop you now!
Walking, running, joyful, oh no a tantrum!
We loved you even when you made your mad face.
You still make your mad face, we still love you!
The years whirl by, preschool, kindergarten,
Elementary. What happened to my baby?
She’s reading long books, doing math!
Philosophical questions? What color am I, someone asked?
You have grown so much since you were a baby.
You have learned kindness and compassion.
You have learned to respect diversity,
Within yourself and others.
You have learned to respect and obey
But challenge what isn’t right.
You are awe-some. I am in awe.
You are NINE.
You are MINE!!!
I love you sweetheart! Happy Birthday! Keep on striving for your potential, reaching for the planets and changing the world!
