"Happy Birthday In Heaven"
This is a song that I wrote yesterday, May 3rd, 2012. This song is dedicated to the late Charles McNeely. It was written for my wife, Ashlie (McNeely) Hale. Ashlie lost her dad two months ago after a short fight with cancer. Instead of mourning our loss, we celebrated his life yesterday. Charles is now 52 and celebrating his first birthday in Heaven. We love you and always will dad. This song is for you as we will always keep your memory alive. Ashlie and Ricky
Death is never easy. Death has the power to affect every person that felt influence in one's life. It can set off a chain of events. Until it happens, we truly don't have any idea of how we will act. We can prepare the best that we can, but even still, we don't know exactly how we will act. Those who have lost loved ones from cancer or illness usually see their loved one suffer for weeks, months, or even years. We tend to remember then in sickness instead of health. This can leave us with haunting memories. Remember the good times and remember that smile on their face. Remember them for who they were, not for their last days. Remember that special moment you had with them and take a mental picture. I want you to remember me this way. Happy Birthday Charles "Pig" McNeely! We will ALWAYS love you.
Today you would be fifty-two
So happy birthday dad
Today I celebrate your life
All the good times we had
You left us way too early
So much left unsaid
But no more pain will you feel
So go and rest your head
It feels like forever
Forever and a day
But I know your up in Heaven
Watching when I pray
CHORUS
I'd give anything
To hear your voice
I'd take it all back
If I had a choice
Give anything
To see your smile
To tell you what you meant to me
It was all worthwhile
To tell you I love you
Happy Birthday I would sing
Just one more moment, with you
I'd give anything
VERSE 2
I'm going to play your song
I'll turn it up high
I refuse to remember the pain
I want to remember your smile
Cause your my one and only daddy
And I'm your baby girl
I know you felt the same
You were and still are my world
CHORUS
I'd give anything
To hear your voice
I'd take it all back
If I had a choice
Give anything
To see your smile
To tell you what you meant to me
It was all worthwhile
To tell you I love you
Happy Birthday I would sing
Just one more moment, with you
I'd give anything
I'll keep that smile of yours
Locked in my soul
I love you dear daddy
Just in case you didn't know
CHORUS
I'd give anything
To see you again
To hold you one more time
I miss my best friend
In case you didn't hear me
You're my everything
For you my dearest daddy
I'd give anything
