Have Yourself a Zombie Little Christmas...

A zombie-themed Christmas may not be everyone's cup of tea (or even eggnog), but it's certainly different! And, with zombie popularity at its zenith, for horror lovers with a wry sense of humor, this just might be the time to give it a try. After all, if you could ever get away with subjecting your friends to zombies for the holidays, wouldn't it be when Walking Dead and all things zombie have so thoroughly permeated the popular culture?

The following suggestions are sure to make your Undead Christmas, Zombie Apocalypse Christmas Eve, or even Dawn of the Dead New Year's party a rousing success (or just make great conversation-piece gifts for the zombie lover in your family).

I'll Be Dead for Christmas (Holiday Attire)

First, get comfortable. The holidays are all about curling up and relaxing. This Christmas Eve, snuggle up by the fire in some gory pajamas and nestle your feet into a pair of inviting zombie feet slippers!

On Christmas morn, you can enjoy entrails wassel while sporting your very own zombie ugly Christmas sweater! And, should you need to go out and clear your driveway of snow or bodies, bundle up in a matching ugly zombie scarf. Really.

I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus (Holiday Music)

It just wouldn't feel like the holidays without some music for the season. Consider putting on some festive songs to set the mood such as Zombie Christmas from Emmy the Great & Tim Wheeler, We Three Zombies by Mike Puccio, or perhaps the Silent Night, Zombie Night soundtrack.

Twas the Outbreak Before Christmas (Holiday Reading)

Christmas is all about family, and what better way to share the season than with some rousing zombie Christmas carols? After all, who can resist joining in on an old favorite like Rudolf, the Zombie Reindeer or I Saw Mommy Chewing Santa Claus?

Or, if singing isn't your forte, why not share a (slightly altered) traditional Christmas story with them such as The Zombie Night Before Christmas or A Zombie Christmas Carol?

The number of available choices for Christmas-themed zombie reading are surprisingly large; currently, a search for "zombie Christmas" in Books at Amazon produces 183 results, and more titles are regularly added, so be sure to peruse for more undead holiday fare!

Deck the Halls with... Bits of Zombie? (Holiday Ornaments)

No Christmas is complete without a well-decorated tree, and your zombie-themed Christmas need not be an exception. A surprising number of retailers have recognized a need for zombie tree ornaments and happily accommodated it.

Now you too can have a tree decorated in festive holiday carnage! Just some of the ornaments available include a Christmas stocking with a zombie's foot inside, a zombie snowman, mistle-"toe" (a personal favorite), zombie gingerbread men, zombie Santas, zombie cats, zombie dogs, and zombie football players.

And, if you really want to upset your relatives, complete your decorating by topping your tree with a zombie angel and adding a papercraft zombie nativity set (available for free download from Zombie Christmas) or throwing a few zombie infested snow village buildings into your existing nativity scene! Nothing says Christmas quite like a few slavering zombie statues standing over the baby Jesus...

Santa Claus Is Shambling to Town (Christmas Eve Preperations)

Finally, when the big day is about to arrive, you'll want to set the stage with style.

Hang your stockings with care with some zombie knee-highs, and don't forget to set out the milk and cookies! With Undead Fred zombie shaped cookie cutters, you'll be sure to make Santa feel included in your holiday festivities.

Christmas Dinner

If your relatives have stuck with you this far, for a festive meal, why not give a new centerpiece a try? The Toscano's Zombie Claus might be just the thing! And after you're done offending the in-laws, it can even double as a garden gnome for those who are less visually discerning.

A Very Zombie Holiday

It's a Wonderful Afterlife (Merry Christmas!)

And so, with zombie holiday attire, music, books, decorations, and Christmas Eve fanfare, you're all set to enjoy your very own merry undead Christmas. If you are looking for suggestions about what gifts to put under your tree, be sure to check out my Zombie Gift Guide as well!
