Holiday 2010 Video Games Gift Guide

Updated on December 21, 2010

The holidays are just around the corner, and with video games being bigger than ever, I decided to make a list that includes a video game for the Nintendo DS, XBOX 360, and the Wii. I will later make another hub for the PS3 and PC.

I have picked out three games from every system basing each on the age of the person that you are purchasing these games for.

Epic Mickey

This game is for all ages. I recommend this more toward the younger crowd (8-16) and the older crowd (24-80). It has an amazing story, where you play as Disney's Mickey Mouse throughout a very beautiful environment and is a lot of fun for almost all ages.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

This is the best Wii game out right now, and certainly the best game out this year on the system. It's MARIO. It's great for all ages (5-80). You've truly never played a game like this, it's very easy to pick up, and if you play it, you will experience sheer brilliance. If you are only buying one game this holiday season, this is it.

Donkey Kong Country Returns

Donkey Kong is a spectacular game for the Wii. It has been a truly great year for Wii owners. I don't recommend this game for anyone that is really young, because it is a very difficult game. I suggest this for ages 12 and up. It is very fun though.

XBOX 360

Alan Wake

The XBOX 360 has had a very successful year, and it was difficult choosing just 3 games. Alan Wake comes out as one of the best X360 games released this year. It has a great story, and a great environment for gamers. I only recommend this game for gamers of ages 16 and up, as it can get quite difficult.

Halo Reach

A new Halo game has been coming out on the X360 almost every year, and every year it is THE game to get for X360 owners. This year, Halo Reach comes out as the winner, and it is being claimed to be the best Halo yet. Although it is recommended by the game that players are 18 or older, I think that it is suitable for any age above 10.

Call of Duty Black Ops

Call of Duty is another franchise, like Halo, that has been coming out almost every year, and it has been amazing on every year that it has come out. Black Ops is a game that I would recommend for guys ages 15 and older, mainly because of the maturity of the game, and the war zone.

Nintendo DS

Professor Layton and the Unwound Future

Professor Layton has been one of the best successful Nintendo franchises since Mario as of late. This installment is great for all ages that are fans of semi-difficult thought puzzles. Where you go on solving mysteries based on clues.

Picross 3D

Picross is still around, and it is here to stay, with this latest installment of the popular puzzle game. This is great for all ages, from 6 to 80. I highly recommend getting this for the older crowd because it can help them stimulate their minds and thinking right.

Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver

Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul SIlver are remakes of the most popular Pokemon games that were out 10 years ago for the Gameboy Color. They have completely redone the graphics, and the sounds, while maintaining the greatness that is usually held for the Pokemon franchise. The games come with a free device that acts as a pedometer that connects to the game, and gives an optional challenge for players to exercise for rewards from the game.
