Homemade Mother's Day Card using a Cricut Machine

Updated on February 19, 2016

Mother's Day

What a fantastic Mother's Day gift...a Homemade / Handmade card made for you just for your mom. Her colors and what she likes represented with cardstock shapes ~ hearts, flowers, small animals.

Card making is a very personal journey ~ your ideas and likes transfer cardstock into something special.

Happy Mother's Day

Making this card

Over the past few years I have made many homemade cards using my Cricut machine, beautiful patterned and solid colored cardstock, and occasionally embellishments.

Below are complete instructions and photos for how you can complete this card. If you don't have the specific Cricut cartridges then choose shapes from one of the cartridges you do have. Also, there is the Cricut Craftroom available where you can download specific shapes.

A few tips to follow

If your sticky mat isn't brand new the cardstock could slide back and forth as the machine is cutting. Stay near the machine and gently hold the cardstock in place, letting your hands travel as the machine does. It helps keep the cardstock still for cutting.

When deciding on placement of finished layered shapes, take the time to lay each piece on the card, then use the adhesive to finalize where each piece goes.

I use the "Flip" button exclusively when cutting shapes. Make sure you put the paper on the sticky mat upside down. Pieces cut cleaner this way.
