Homenade Halloween Costume

Updated on August 25, 2014

Halloween is near and if you are on a budget or want to recycle some clothing laying around use those for a costume. You may want buy some clothing at a thrift store.

You are more likely to win a cash prize and or get a few laughs from the homemade route than with a costume in a bag. There are plenty of costume ideas on the internet so most of the creativity is there.

Have a old shirt or pants that is too worn out to use? If it has buttons cut them off to give a hobo shirt a mismatched look. Cut the pocket(s) off the pair of jeans or shirt for a funny look. If you are at a thrift store look for wigs, sunglasses and other accesories.

I am a big fan of home made costumes, and you're right--home made costumes always beat store bought hands down. One year I just grabbed a t-shirt, bought a pink wig, wore a handkerchief and went as my own made up super hero and everyone loved it!

I was at a thrift store and bought a green wig for $2. This definetly will give my hobo costume a funny look. I gotta laugh at myself with what I come up with, It usually ends up more people love the homemade costume than the store bought.
