How To Make A Paper Plate Ghost
Ghost paper plate crafts are a fun and cheap way to have some Halloween holiday fun with your kids. The main material for these arts and crafts projects are paper plates. Most kitchens have a stack of them in their cabinets, so you will most likely have some you can use. Add some glue, markers, streamers, cloth, buttons, scissors, and you have the supplies you need to craft a ghost to decorate your home and entertain your kids.
Ghosts are a very simple craft theme. They don't require much skill so they are perfect for young kids. If your kids are older let them use their imaginations to decorate the ghosts so they are more of a craft challenge to make.
Paper Plate Ghosts
To make the paper plate ghosts as seen at Who Arted you will need the following craft materials:
- White Paper Plates (any size)
- Black Construction Paper
- White Streamers (crepe paper)
- Glue
- Scissors
- A Red Crayon, Colored Pencil, or Marker
Crepe Paper Craft Supplies
The black paper is going to make your ghost's eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows, and any other facial features you want to add. Cut the different shapes out with your scissors. Lay the features on the back of your plate and when you like how they look, glue them into place. (The back of the plates will be the front of your ghost.)
Color in some blush on your ghost's cheeks with the red crayon or marker.
Cut the crepe paper into strips and glue them onto the bottom of your plates. Glue them to what is usually the front of the paper plate. You can cut the bottoms of the streamers to make them look shredded or messy. Look at the picture up above for some ideas.
Your paper plate ghosts are done, unless you have something you'd like to add to make your ghost a little bit different than the others.
Swirling Paper Plate Ghost Craft
To make this easy paper plate ghost you will need:
- 1 Small Paper Plate
- 1 Large Paper Plate
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black Sharpie Style Marker
- Thread
Cut the larger paper plate and begin to cut it from the outside in a spiral fashion, continue to cut the plate this way towards the middle, leaving the center area uncut. Take a look at the picture if you don't understand what I am saying.
Draw a ghostly face on the small paper plate. Glue it to the center of the larger, swirly cut plate. Poke a hole through the top of the ghost's head and thread your thread through it. Tie it in a knot to form a hanger.
Hang your ghost and watch it swirl and dance!
Easy Paper Plate Ghost Craft For Kids
This is another easy craft kids will enjoy making. You will need:
- Paper Plates
- Construction Paper - black for mouth and eyes, white for arms
- Tissue Paper or Crepe Paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Ribbon or String
- Tape
Cut two eyes and one mouth - two circles and one oval - from the black paper.
Glue the eyes and mouth onto the back of your paper plate, making a face.
Take your scissors and cut arm shapes from the white paper and glue them behind the plate making your ghost's arms.
Take your crepe paper and cut strips that are about 18 - 24 inches long. Cut 5 or 6 of them. Glue them to the back of your plate so they hang down as seen in the picture.
Finally take your string or ribbon and attach it to the back of the plate using the tape. You can also cut a hole in the edge of the top side of the plate and thread the string or ribbon through it. Tie it in a knot and use this as a hanger.
