Irish Flavored Party

Invitations

March marks that time of year to celebrate Irish heritage. One of the first things that you need to do is, to decide who you are going to invite. On the invitations you can encourage your friends to wear green and the more outrageous the better. There are green beads, green top hats you name it. You may decide to go to a pub on St. Patrick's Day.

There are St. Patrick's Day invitations to send to your guests to make the party seem more festive. If you decide to have the party at your home, you could have the guests RSVP. When the guests arrive have everyone bring green colored food. If you don't want to bring green food, just bring whatever.

Also, to take some of the stress off of yourself, fixing all the food, invite your guests to bring their own beverages and if they would like to bring some kind of food, that would be helpful. Even better, if you reserved a restaurant conference room, you could make sure everyone can sit together.

No matter what kind of St. Patrick's Day party you are having, be sure to have your guests wear green to celebrate this Irish Holiday. If they don't they just might get pinched!! For an adult themed party have your guests dress up in a costume but, they have to dress as some kind of green character such as Shrek, A Leprechaun, The Hulk or any other green item maybe even dress up like a dollar bill. It's fun to see everyone's costumes, makeup, etc. So keep with the green theme.

Decorating

If you are throwing a party for your friends, I think it's fun to go all out. I would start outside at the mailbox and place St. Patrick's Day balloons at the mailbox to let everyone know...hey...the party is here!! I have a small table on my front porch that I would also decorate in the St. Paddy's Day theme. Then I would change my flag on the porch to St. Patrick's Day. I also have a front door hanger that has glittery green clovers on it and it says Happy St. Patrick's Day. I would also hang a banner from the ceiling saying Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Get your guests involved by passing out St. Patrick's Day Hat's and gold coins for good luck.

Food

I would go the local dollar store and get some things to decorate the table at the party. While there I would also look for St. Patrick's Day plates, napkins and cups. If they don't have themed plates, green can also be used.

If there are coffee drinkers in your group, it would be nice to serve Irish coffee or just regular coffee for those who may not like Irish coffee.

One of the foods that you can serve at your St. Paddy's Day party would be clover leaf shaped cookies. Another cute idea would be to use green icing and maybe some green sprinkles. Cupcakes can be made or bought in the theme of the party. Green icing is a must of course.

Green food can be placed around the table. Some foods that are green are grapes and kiwi. There is a fruit dip that I make that could be used as well. Just put a few drops of green food coloring to the fruit dip to keep with the theme.

Make the table look interesting by placing food at different heights. This makes the eyes move around the table and adds dimension and interest to your table as well. Have a bowl of green punch for your guests. One other cute idea for the table would be to buy the chocolate coins that are wrapped in shiny gold foil. Place these randomly on the table and maybe they lead to a pot of gold?

Don't forget corned beef and cabbage to keep with the Irish theme. This is considered an Irish delectable. You could always use a cookie cutter and have four leaf clover bread.

Games

It would good to have a Irish potato sack race. Another game to play is lucky horseshoes. Horseshoes are considered to be lucky. I don't know about you but, I need all the luck I can get. Outside or inside games are fun to play.

Themed parties are really a lot of fun and can be as mild or as wild as you want them to be. Usually everyone is willing to participate in dressing up.

Go Green!

Whether it is a party for your job, or you are just grocery shopping wear green on Saint Paddy's Day attire. Show your spirit and it can get contagious. It will usually at least bring a smile to someone's face. Not to mention, its fun dressing up for the different holidays. Other people do it and then when you run into someone decked out in green you can stop and look at each other with a smile. Some of the costumes are quite elaborate.

Make holidays a festive time with what you wear and the vents you attend. The more people that join in the better especially when it comes to parties.
