Mom. Homeschooler. Mystery shopper. Editor. Wife. These are a few words to describe notyouraverageal. Her life is anything but average.

What to Give as a Bridal Shower Gift

Knowing what to get a bride-to-be is sometimes difficult! Many times, they register for very expensive items. While you want to give them something from their registry, this is not always the most affordable option.

Many times, items on a registry do not go on sale or clearance. You, as a savvy shopper, can get much better deals by hitting the clearance section, but you don't want to look cheap! It's hard to strike a balance between getting a good deal on a gift and giving the bride something she actually wants and will use.

What They Want

What do you think is the most popular item on gift registries in the United States?

Everyone Needs Towels

Everyone needs towels, and you can easily find them at bargain prices. With these simple steps, you can dress up the bargain towels to make them look like an expensive, designer gift.

Before you go bargain hunting, look at the couple's gift registry online. That way, you can see what colors they are using in their home. If you can't find colors to go by, just stick with neutrals. Everyone can use a white or beige towel or washcloth.

For a gift recently, I found Tommy Hilfiger towels on clearance. Although they were a great bargain, they screamed "quality" just because of the name. Look for brand names at bargain prices. When giving a gift, the name says a lot.

Raffia is an affordable solution that looks expensive when braided.

Dress Them Up

Find a cheap basket or tray to place the towels in. Neatly roll the towels and place them by size in the basket.

For the tie, use raffia ribbon. Use several strands and braid it tightly. Make two braids that will fit across the sides and top of the basket with room left to tie the ends.

Tuck the knots into the basket for easy access.

Instead of tying the braids around the whole basket, just tuck the knots in the bottom of the basket. This makes opening the basket easy for the bride.

The Best Gift at the Shower!

Leave loose ends.

Tie the braids and leave the ends loose for a cool, designer look.

Your plain, clearance towels will quickly be transformed into a great, designer gift. This gift is sure to be a hit with any bride!
