What A Woman Wants...Not Just Valentines, Any Day 2

Updated on June 24, 2015

So recently I wrote a hub on what I wanted for Valentine's day to help the men and women out there who were looking for that something special for their significant others. This hub centered around unique and personal gifts under $50 to woo your boo. While I was writing the hub though, several ideas popped into my head of gifts for those who want to go all out but without going into their wallet.

Even though the first hub on the matter, titled

"What A Woman Wants...Not Just Valentines, Any Day"----->>

is great if you want to show that person why you've fallen in love with their unique personality, there are other ways that to demonstrate this which require spending more time, but not necessarily any money. Don't get me wrong, to search for the perfect gift and purchase has just as much sentimental value as "creating" a gift.

So lets start round two off with a bang! I'll tell you a little about myself, then I'll suggest the perfect gift to fit that aspect of my personality and we'll go from there!

Lite'n'Love Niche

I like to have my own niche, in all ways, but I love it especially in the physical sense. I also like lights, to the point where I will keep my Christmas lights up all year on the balcony. Once I put the two together, and it was rather brilliant (pun intended). You know that cozy feeling you get when you curl up in a love seat with a warm blanket, nestling up to a book, a cup of tea, or another person? There are only a few simple things in the world that will give you that type of delirious pleasure. This is one of them.

Needs: If you have Christmas lights from the holidays, put them to good use throughout the year. This idea can be used for valentines, birthdays, anniversaries or just for the fun of it!

Application: You can use any room in your house, but since we're romanticizing our lives a bit for this day, lets move into the bedroom shall we? As you can see by the pictures to the right, it's all about what you want to do. If you like things simple, string some lights right behind your bed, and cover it with sheer curtains in any color you want. Change things up a bit and take advantage of the versatility of this idea. Do a color theme if you want of blues and whites, go red for the love, or keep things mellow with a golden yellow. Why stop at a candle lit dinner?

Stereo Love

Once when I was a teenager, a friend of mine serenaded me with a song very much not about love, on his acoustic guitar. Before then, I wasn't crazy about acoustic versions of songs as I thought that it ruined it and made it all too amateur, but I have to say it more than moved me. As Smokey Robinson would say, music is made for love. They go hand in hand together. So put on a love song darling, and make me sway.

Needs: Let's be honest, not every person can croon a ballad, and some can't even coo. That's why we have Youtube. There are tons of acoustic covers of just about any song if you really take your time and look. Choose wisely though.

Application: This song I picked because I'm a huge fan of a number of songs by Band of Horses. They have a song called "No One's Gonna Love You Like I do." Come on, you can't beat that! It's a great song, but you want romantic, so let's do an acoustic cover. The great thing about using a cover is how simple yet strong the words become. So sit me down and "serenade" me through Youtube, we're in the technology age, no need for a mariachi band when you can just hit play.

Tip: Be spontaneous, if you can find a guitar and lip-sync the words, I might just faint. Or if you can't find a guitar, just start reading the most amourous part of the song out-loud, then hit play. Here's a start....

"Anything to make you smile
You are the ever-living ghost of what once was
I never want to hear you say
That you'd be better off
Or you liked it that way

But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do"

Message in a Bottle

You might call me a pack rat, but I like to hold onto memorabilias. This ranges from game tickets, to shells, to bottle caps and ribbons. I usually have a box around where all these things will go into and i'll forget about till I'm pleasantly surprised one day while rummaging around for something entirely different. I'm sure you also have little snippets of things that remind you of your lover lying around your house. If you don't, start hunting, this next idea should

Needs: A clear jar, such as from spaghetti sauce or wine. The size really depends on how much you have and what you want to do. If you want to make it perfect, you can even pick up a jar or two from your local thrift shop or the supermarket. To glamorize the end result, find out her favorite flower, if you don't already know and get a fake version of it. You can also add sand in different colors (regular sand can be easily dyed with food coloring) or smooth river pebbles.

Application: Pour the sand into the jar about an inch or so up (depending on the jar size). From then on, you can put whatever memorabilia you've got in as well. Try to place them apart so you can see each. Close it tightly with the lid and strings or ribbons and VIOLA! You've got a message in a bottle!

Tip: Once again, play with the colors, do different bottles in different themes. If not color, play with the amount of time you've been together, or in each bottle gather some things from each place you've been. The possibilities really are endless with this and you can go as far as make bottles of hopes and dreams for the two of you. I'm sure she'll get the message...

Yeah, it's something that I have to start doing. It's a great way to recycle glass jars.

Thanks Laurathegentleman(your username is amusing lol). Who says you can't bake your cookies and eat them? Even if you have to share.

Fantastic ideas! I love the lights and the pictures really make it look romantic. I may have to try this because my hubby loves Christmas lights and this would probably make the day really special. Enjoyed your hub and simple, fun ideas.

These are great ideas! Thank you for literally spelling out what women want for Valentine's day - just a little extra attention and a sweet reminder that the men in our lives care! (Of course, we can't expect them to do all the work - I bake him an overly full box of cookies to even us out ;) Haha)

I loooove that these ideas are all simple and achievable! Thanks for sharing!
