Valentine's Day Again!

Updated on February 14, 2018

Valentine's Day

One of my favorite days is fast approaching. It has been a long time since Christmas and winter is in full swing. If the winter blahs have gripped you, this is just the celebration you need. It's not just for couples, but a day to show those around you that you care. Valentine's Day can be a day of appreciating friends, neighbors and loved ones.

Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day

Valentine's day provides the opportunity to decorate with red in an otherwise dull season of the year. Those of you surrounded by snow drifts know what I mean! A little color in your world can brighten your day. A touch of red or hot pink in your office or at home can provide a lift to your mood. Decorate your breakfast table with a touch of red or add a colorful red wreath to the front door.

Gifts and Valentine's Day

Some of us are still reeling from Christmas giving in December. Expensive gifts are not in the budget. Others of you have saved all year to remember that special person with an elaborate gift they will appreciate. The drugstores and malls are full of gift ideas. Your favorite store is brimming with cards to meet every need. Whatever you choose to do for those special people in your life, let it be meaningful and uplifting. Life is difficult for many people and your kind words of encouragement and appreciation can make a huge difference in their life.

Don't forget to include older members of your family, singles and miscellaneous friends who need to hear that they are important to you. Write a letter, send a card, or buy a gift and make this a special day for the people in your life.

Valentine's Day Confession Time

I do enjoy visiting the local drugstores where the stuffed animals are sold. The past few years have been extra fun for me. As the stuffed animals are perched on the shelf, their feet hang forward in my direction. Many of them have computer chips in their feet that activate head movements and music. I am smiling as I remember the numerous times that I have squeezed a dozen or so of the stuffed animals and watched them sing and sway in chorus in an otherwise quiet store. Quietly walking away, I stand at a distance and watch the face on the sales clerks as they search for the culprit. Grin....

Special Plates and Tableware For Valentine' Day

Yummy Treats For Valentine's Day

Baked items are also popular during this season. My husband came home this evening with several dozen miniature cupcakes and cookies to take to the office tomarrow. Valentine's Day is next week and the celebrations are already beginning. Cupcake shops and bakeries across the country are preparing some memorable creations for this special day. Some of the cupcakes advertised look too good to eat!

The list of possibilities for celebrating the upcoming day are limitless. Be creative and have fun....
