5 Last Minute Cheap Christmas Gift Ideas

Updated on December 23, 2009

1. Write Someone A Poem

Make it a personalized poem. Handwritten, this becomes much more personal. Tell the person how much he/she means to you. Sign it. Frame it. Make sure it's written on some nice paper.

2. Lotto Tickets

You can get someone a couple of lottery tickets for the next big upcoming draw. If they do win, you will be a legend and I'm sure you would also get something in return! Not the most personal gift, but something you can get last minute and not too expensive and it can still be exciting for the recipient :)

3. Personal Vouchers

Make some personal homemade vouchers that can be redeemed at a later date. You could make a booklet of them too. Maybe even print them on the computer and laminate them (business card size).

Some examples:

  • one three course dinner
  • a day's picnic with (your name)
  • free massage
  • one free big bear hug
  • one hour where we can do anything you want together!

4. Event Vouchers

You could purchase some generic tickets to a venue and let the other person pick the event before you book it (eg performance or concert or live music). Have dinner followed by an event of that person's choice.

5. Give An Award

Create a "Certificate of Appreciation" or "Valued Friend of 2009" award to show someone how much you value and what it is about them that make your relationship with them special. Be specific and make it personal. Present it with a bottle of wine or box of chocolates.

I have already bought them for this year, but I'll keep in mind this hub for 2010. Merry Christmas.

Some great ideas, Marco! I actually went the way of the scratch-off tickets. The Powerball over here was at 110 Million as of Christmas Eve ;)
