We are at the beginning of a new journey. We take this journey every year during the season of Lent. It's a journey of reflection, of abstaining and of giving. Over the years the journey has experienced ups and downs just as this journey will. Think of this as if you were traveling across country and encountered car problems, detours, inclement weather, missed connections and so forth. We prepare for these and handled them as they arise.

Well, so will we prepare and handle the issues that crop up during our journey through Lent. There are those who choose to abstain from specific food such as candy, cakes. chocolate ( yes even chocolate ), others abstain from coffee, soda, alcohol and so on. The list is long and wide spread. Then, you have those who don't abstain yet still continue their Lenten journey. They choose to give, volunteer at the local soup kitchen, nursing homes, hospitals, for numerous charities, the local schools, they give of themselves to help others. While some decide to set aside a hour of prayerful reflections, pray the Rosary, read a Bible passage, yet again some read entire sections of the Bible, help out at their church, join a ministry and even more.

Throughout the Lenten Season there will be times that you get distracted as life continues during our journey and we may stray from our goals and get lost along the way. Don't be discouraged, there are road blocks all around us and we may stumble but we have the ability to get back up, dust ourselves off and move on. Each day of this journey as you arise to a new day, ask God to help you through, take it one day at a time and, try one of my methods, say the Serenity Prayer: GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THOSE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE, THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THOSE THAT I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

Take Care & God Bless You All!
