The Christmas holidays can be quite a magical time for both the young and the old. It is a time of giving and a time to cherish both family and friends. But what many children from around the globe look forward to the most is a visit from Santa Claus.
Most people will set out a plate of cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve as a thank you for all of the wonderful presents and joy he brings. However, not many people consider thanking his team of eight magical reindeer that race Santa around the world in a single night.
In addition to setting out milk and cookies for Santa, consider setting out carrots, apple slices, and other reindeer food to help nourish them on their journey. - Old fashioned oats, uncooked

- Dried fruit (cranberries, apple bits, figs, dates)
- Hay or grass
- Mixing bowl
- Goodie bags, ziplock bags, or other containers to place the reindeer food in.

Now it is time to gather the children around the table with a large mixing bowl and all of the ingredients and supplies to prepare and assemble the magic reindeer food. For added Christmas spirit, you could also have your favorite Christmas music playing in the background to brighten the mood. - Add desired amount of old fashioned, uncooked oats to a large mixing bowl.
- Allow the child to stir in other ingredients, such as glitter, sprinkles, pieces of hay, nuts, and so on. If there is more than one child, have each child take turns adding the extra ingredients.
- Pass the bowl around to each child allowing them to mix together the ingredients in the bowl for the specified amount of time.

- Spoon the magic reindeer mixture into small baggies, tubes, brown lunch bags, or whatever container you choose.
