Valentine's day special for singles too

Updated on February 12, 2012

Being single is not a stigma!

It still amazes me that people are afraid to be single, like there is a stigma attached to it. On Valentine's Day, especially, I see people blush if they don't have a date or a significant other to share it with. Then I see other people feeling sorry for me because I don't have someone to share it with. I love being single!

Valentine's day seems to be a day when most people go into debt to gift someone they love with something they can't afford. I don't envy that.

I also don't feel like Valentine's day is just for the attached at the hip couples either. I love the holiday and the lovey stuff all around me. I love to watch my friends and co workers get all excited about their plans with loved ones. I on the other hand, am just as special as everybody else on this day and I am going to act accordingly.

I am going to buy some pretty flowers for my table, a nice bottle of pino noir, rack of lamb and make a chocolate lava cake. I am going to treat myself to a nice dinner, maybe go to or rent a movie and just relax. I might even take a bubble bath.

My point is this: You don't have to be attached to enjoy any of the holidays. You are very special and you owe it to yourself to enjoy this holiday as well as all the others in a special way. Do something you love to do! I love to go to the movies by myself, I love to cook for someone else but I can do that for myself too. I love to read, maybe buy myself something I would like to have that I wouldn't normally buy. Take total advantage of this and every holiday to get yourself a gift!

Thank you for your comment H P! I suppose it depends on what you like and if you have met the right person to fit those likes and well being.

Pleasure of life lies in joint and not in single.

I completely agree. I have never been in a relationship, especially during a Valentine's Day. It's a great time to get together with other singles and just hang and be crazy! Love it! I also love the wine idea. I might have to invest in a good bottle.

Absolutely. In my life, I have found that I wanted to be married (or in a relationship) when I was single...and I wanted to be single when I was married.
