Bless the beasts and the children
As I walked into the grocery store Saturday hand in hand with my sons' girlfriends little four year old I was reminded to give money to the bucket in front of the store for “ The starving little children in Africa” so they could have Christmas. A four year old can be very single minded during this time of year but his persistence impressed me. Instead of immediately dragging me off to the toy section little JJ was worried about children he new nothing of. He of course got off of the cart and ran over to the toy section when we neared it, but what four year old wouldn't. Is it really that simple? If we all raise children that care about others could we solve many of the worlds problem? We all tend to get into a holiday mood what with all the music and hoopla. The reality although is a different story. Too many of us have to visit food banks just to get a Christmas meal. Christmas just tends to be another day off work for others. It is hard to get into the mood when living day to day is an challenge. Still I am encouraged when a four year old says such pure words as that. As we left JJ said” Alex can you give me some money to put in that red bucket? It is for the kids you know.
