Wandering and Wondering-A Poem for Mother

Updated on July 5, 2011

I wander through the meadow and wonder

what is admirable, honorable, precious?

A robin flutters to the ground. Snatching a twig

she takes wing to tree and nest.

A home is under construction,

twig by twig, grass and string.

I wonder at the faithfulness

this little bird invests in her home.

Synthesizing, fortifying, tempering

to withstand the wind and storm.

I wander through the meadow and wonder

what is admirable, honorable, precious?

Who nurtures the flower,

providing and fostering growth so lovely.

Alone, yet surrounded, by dissimilarity.

A touch of passion in a field of hush.

Devotion and fidelity of creation

promotes seed to jubilance.

Benevolent offering of field to sky.

I wander through the meadow and wonder

What is admirable, honorable, precious?

Through the pines, imperial and lofty,

steps softened, light filtered, stillness reigning.

To water’s edge, diamonds glistening and glittering

on rippling relaxation. Pondering mysteries, time settles.

Diamonds flickering to rubies,amethyst, topaz.

Moonstone budding on horizon.

Twilight enters without a sound, beckoning me home.

Through the pines softly, tranquil passage forest to field.

I wander through the meadow and wonder

What is admirable, honorable, precious?

Regress home, the hearth is where the heart is.

Bouquet of dinner entices, lucent porch coaxes.

Peace, grace, honor await. I comprehend

what is admirable, honorable, precious.

“Hi Mom”, I say.

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's Day!

Truth and the unknown...yes, it is an eternal cycle. Even if our parents are part of us, they are still unknown. I do not know where my wild side comes from, only that it is.

Cris, For me words and images are closely intertwined. I am a very visual person and when I am writing poetry I can see it. I always feel lucky to find pictures to match my seeing!
