New Year’s Eve Party Favor Ideas

Updated on March 10, 2014

The Bash of the Year

You’ve just got to have cool party favors when you throw a New Year’s Eve bash this year. It will be the final thing that your guests take home with them to remember the party!

Here are some ideas for the party accents you can offer your guests.

Necklaces

It’s fun to hand out festive bead necklaces to each guest. You can order these online very inexpensively and they look great with all your guests outfits.

You’ll be amazed at the Mardi Gras feel that just a few plastic beads can give off. Not only that, but if you're able to find them in gold or silver, they will really make the night sparkle.

You might even find beaded necklaces that have little plastic cocktail glasses as charms. Look around and see what you can find.

Masks

You might make it a New Year’s Eve masquerade and hand your guests glittering masks when they arrive.

You can buy these dazzling party props at party stores or online. They’ll really jazz up the party.

Top Hats and Tiaras

Give out plastic or glittering top hats to the men and tiaras to the ladies. It will make everyone feel like they are dressed in black tie finery even if they are in jeans.

Horns and Noisemakers

If you don’t mind messing up your floors, hand out confetti horns. When midnight arrives, guests blow their horns and sprays of confetti spew out. It’s really festive and worth a little extra vacuuming the next day.

You can also hand out regular noisemakers in a variety of shapes and colors.

Tips & Predictions for New Years

Flashing Light Mugs

Order these really cute beverage mugs online or pick them up at a party store. Plastic beer mugs come in large or small sizes with flashing LED lights inside them. Guests can turn their mugs on and walk around twinkling. It really lights up the room.

2000-Something Glasses

Ever since the turn of the current century, marketers have gotten savvy to the fact that the number 2000 makes for a great pair of eyeglasses.

So each year, you can find glasses with 2010, 2011, 2012, etc., on the font and cut outs for your eyes to see through the zero and the one.

These will be around a long time and are a fun reminder of a good time had by all. They usually come in silver, gold, or other colors so you can match your party décor.

They also sell these now as flashing LED light-up glasses. It’s the same concept as the paper version, but they are more durable and have more wow factor.

Small Bottles of Champagne

Get a bunch of tiny, airline-sized champagne bottles form the liquor store. Give them out right before midnight for a champagne toast or send them home with guests as a little treat when they leave.

You can also do this with mini wine bottles or bottles of another festive liquor like Chambord or a flavored vodka.

An Adult Piñata

Fill up a New Year’s Eve piñata, available online or in some party stores, with gourmet chocolates and candies. Let adults act like kids again while they take swings to bring the candy down. The unexpected treat will really make for a fun inclusion at your party.

Whatever you decide to give out, make it look special. Decorate a basket and place everything inside it and dole out the New Year gifts at midnight. Or make up little bags and send guests home with their little treasures. They’ll be sure to remember your special party for a long time to come.
