India celebrates the 64th republic day on 26th January 2013. India became republic on 26th January 1950. India achieved this title because of our unforgettable freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra bose etc. There were numerous people who have sacrificed their lives for the country. On this day we remember them all. 26th January is a national holiday and every citizen of India join together and celebrate this day.

Republic day is celebrated in almost all schools of India. A Chief guest will be invited to the schools for the republic day celebrations. Indian flag will be hoisted and it will be done by the honorable chief guest. A republic day speech will also be given by the chief guest. The head master of the school will also give a speech. Various programmes will be arranged in schools on this day. All the students will be having the Indian flag badges. Students will sing various patriotic songs on this day. Another programme which occur in schools is the march past by the students. The students will march through the ground and salute the chief guest. Band drums will also be done by the students during the march past. Sweets will be distributed to all students in the school. Finally the Indian National Anthem will be sung by the students and the celebrations of schools will come to an end. Not only in schools, various other institutions also celebrate this day with variety of programmes. Every government offices hoist the Indian flag on the compound.

Rashtrapati bhavan on Republic day

The main celebrations occur in New Delhi, the capital of India where various programmes will be arranged. Huge parade will be arranged by the military forces on this day at Delhi. Every military personnel will march through the compound and salute the president. A chief guest will be invited for the republic day celebrations. Usually prime ministers or presidents of other countries are invited for the celebrations. Various programmes by Army, Navy and Air force will be arranged. The Indian air forces arrange unbelievable fly pasts by the jet aircrafts during the parade. The jet aircraft leaves saffron, white and green color smokes to make it looks like an Indian flag. Every people should remember the famous persons who have given their life to make our country republic on this day.
