Romance and Action Movies for Valentine's Day

Updated on August 10, 2016

It can be difficult to choose movies that both of you will like. These flicks are full of entertaining elements that won't have you or your significant other falling asleep. If you're staying in for Valentine's Day, choose one of these action-packed yet romantic films to enjoy together.

The Bourne Identity

Jason Bourne is a man plagued with memory loss. He discovers he has the abilities of a secret agent and searches to find his true identity. Bourne uncovers clues along the way as he recruits Marie to drive him to Paris. She stays beside him despite his fast-paced, dangerous life. This movie is mostly action with some romance added to the mix.

The Fifth Element

This classic science fiction movie displays a quirky, uncertain future in the 23rd century. An unusual woman falls into a driver's taxicab, propelling him into a thrilling adventure. He assists her in finding four mysterious stones to help defend the Earth from an alien attack. Of course, along the way, they fall in love. This whimsical film is full of science fiction, comedy, and romance.

Iron Man

Robert Downey, Jr. plays the wealthy Tony Stark who becomes a super hero through the use of technology. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), his assistant, becomes his romantic interest. Even if you've seen it, this epic film deserves a rewatch. Iron Man 2 and 3 are also note-worthy.

Warm Bodies

A zombie falls hard for a human girl. Their love magically changes the course of post-apocalyptic history. This more recent film, based on the novel by Isaac Marion, is filled with action, gore, and plenty of romance.

The Princess Bride

This goofy classic is a fairy tale adventure of a farm boy attempting to save his true love, Buttercup. This timeless, quotable movie, includes swordplay, romance, and comedy.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Scott Pilgrim must battle a girl's exes to win her over in this 2010 film. Comic book and video game elements combine in this adaptation of a popular graphic novel series. With facets of love, action, and comedy, it is a highly entertaining movie for both males and females.

Hey ebower, a good selection of movies here, especially the classic Princees Bride. Who can't love that movie? The Iron Man series are also great, I love them, and The Bourne Identity (the best of the Bourne movies). The Fifth Element is memorable too. I haven't seen Warm Bodies or Scott Pilgrim unfortunately.
