Top Sesame Street Halloween Costumes for Kids and Toddlers

Updated on June 15, 2012

As much as I loved Sesame Street as a child, enjoying it with my own little girl is even more fun. With Halloween 2012 just around the corner, I am looking forward to dressing the kids in Sesame Street costumes. With so many characters, there is something for everyone. The great thing about a Sesame Street Halloween costume is you can pass it down the next year and it will be just as adorable. After many years as a hit with children, you can be assured that Sesame Street isn’t just a passing Halloween fad.

The Classics: It’s hard to beat the classic Sesame Street characters, especially Big Bird. If orange and red tights aren’t your thing, maybe a monster will suit you better. Grover and Cookie Monster are perennial favorites. Of course, no Sesame Street ensemble is complete without an Elmo. My daughter is particularly a big fan of Ernie. If you have an Ernie you must complete the duo with Bert, too. These are great choices for your little boys to get in on the Sesame Street fun this Halloween. Don’t forget everyone’s favorite grouch this Halloween - Oscar The Grouch. For a more unique costume, go as The Count.

Modern Fun: Of course, the Sesame Street that the more seasoned among us grew up watching has a few new kids on the block. Zoe is a charmer for little girls and makes as adorable look. Today’s toddlers are under the spell of Abby, and what’s not to love!

Sesame Street is a perfect costume choice for the young and the young at heart. It’s also a great theme if you are looking for something to tie all the family together. Mom, dad and junior can get in on the fun. Or, if you are dressing a large group of kids this Halloween and want to go for a cohesive look, Sesame Street is, again, the perfect choice.

If you buy an adult Big Bird costume, hang on to it. If you are throwing a Sesame Street themed birthday party, Big Bird can make an appearance. Not only will the kids love it, but it will save mom and dad a little money, too.

As you complete your costumes for Halloween 2012, look to Sesame Street. There are some great deals on Sesame Street costumes online and you will have so much fun. Adults will fell like kids again and children will be thrilled to be a part of the Sesame Street gang. No matter what character you choose - have fun!
