Hot Cocoa Cones For Gift Giving

This has to be one of the cutest and tastiest practical gift ideas I have ever come across! Last year my daughter was in the TREP$ program at school and she had to come up with something she could sell at her table at this event and she made these (with my help, of course) along with pumpkin bread, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. And these were definitely a hit! We got the pastry bags at A.C. Moore and we also bought red and white polka dot ribbon to attach the directions around the top. Makes a great gift for bus drivers, teachers, friends, etc. Another great tip if you want to dress it up a bit, buy a mug and sit the cocoa cone inside and fill the mug with candy (Hershey Kisses perhaps) and wrap the mug with cellophane wrap and tie a ribbon bow on top. Also be sure to enjoy the video on how to make Valentine's hot chocolate cones, makes a great craft for kids to give out for Valentine's Day! Too cute!! :)

Make sure you list on the tag that the cone contains enough for (4) servings

Hot Chocolate Cones

  • 3/4 cup cocoa mix
  • 2 (6- by 12-inch) cone-shaped cellophane bags (available at party stores)
  • 2 clear rubber bands
  • Scissors
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 large red gumdrop

  1. Pour the cocoa mix into one of the bags. Close the bag with a clear rubber band, then trim the end of the bag 1 inch above the band.

  2. Place the cocoa-filled bag into the second bag and flatten its top so the end doesn't stick up.

  3. Layer the chocolate chips and the marshmallows, then top with the gumdrop. Secure the bag with the other rubber band.
