Songs for Valentine Season

Updated on August 31, 2012

The month of February is usually ascribed to "Love Month" for in this month, we celebrate the Valentine season. And since today's month is February and tomorrow will be the Valentine's Day, it is very timely to feature a list with regards to this season.

Music and Lyrics Effect

I often heard from my mom that music could affect our emotion. No wonder she listens to music when she is upset with me or my dad while she’s cooking with her favourite aprons. :) And no wonder I seemed to want to fall in love when I am listening on some love songs.

Are love songs contagious?

See results

“The song is ended / But the melody lingers on.”

Here is a list of songs that seemed to create an atmosphere of love when you are listening on them.

I Will Be Here (Steven Curtis Chapman)

Sung and composed by Steven Curtis Chapman. Supposedly meant to be a Christian song, but then widely known as a love song. This song is a common song for wedding celebration because of its lyrics and the way it portrayed protective and selfless love.

"I will be here

And you can cry on my shoulder

When the mirror tells us we're older

I will hold you

And I will be here

To watch you grow in beauty

And tell you all the things you are to me

I will be here...

I will be true to the promise I have made

To you and to the One who gave you to me "

What Matters Most (Kenny Rankin)

This is a personal favorite of mine. A classic and immemorial song about loving each day, as if that day is the best and last day of our life. Time and date doesn't matter but what matters most is how you showed that love.

It's not how long I held you in my arms

What matters is how sweet the years together

It's not how many summertimes we had to give to fall

The early morning smiles we tearfully recall

What matters most is that we loved at all.

It Might be You (Stephen Bishop)

One of the highest rating love songs of all time. "It Might Be You" is a song for those who are looking for their real love. It is about the risk of falling in love to the right (or maybe the wrong) person.

"I think we’re gonna need some time

Maybe all we need is time

And it's telling me it might be you

All of my life"

Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You (George Benson)

This song was sung by various artists  including Glenn Medeiros, Stevie Wonder, Westlife and even the famous boxer Manny Pacquiao. A song with the theme of endless and unfailing love. Seems like this song will break the adage that the only permanent thing in this world is change, eh.

Nothing's gonna change my love for you

You ought know by now how much I love you

The world may change my whole life through

But nothing's gonna change my love for you

Save the Best for Last (Vanessa Williams)

The signature song of Vanessa Williams. This song topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for five weeks in 1992. A story of an admirer who watched the one she admires running and going with others and at the end finally decide to pursue her. A happy ending, eh:)

"Sometimes the very thing you're looking for

Is the one thing you can't see

Sometimes the snow comes down in June

Sometimes the sun goes 'round the moon

Just when I thought our chance had passed

You go and save the best for last

You went and saved the best for last"

On Bended Knee (Boys II Men)

A song on second chance and forgiveness. A love that was lost and yet still trying to be won back. I really love the message of this song.

"Can we go back to the days when our love was strong

Can you tell me how a perfect love goes wrong

Can somebody tell me how to get things back

They way they use to be

Oh God give me a reason

I’m down on bended knee

I’ll never walk again until you come back to me

I’m down on bended knee"

Valentine (Jim Brickman)

The song that was not attributed to the singer per se, but to its songwriter, Jim Brickman. A perfect song this Valentine's day.

"And even if the sun refused to shine,

Even if romance ran out of rhyme,

You would still have my heart until the end of time

You're all I need, my love, my valentine"

Runaway (The Corrs)

The debut single of The Corrs. It shows how love and passion could move people even to the point of running away..:)Just kidding.

"Cause I have fallen in love

With you, no never have

I'm never gonna stop falling in love, with you"

You and Me (Lifehouse)

For the year 2005, it remained on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 62 weeks. That's a great accomplishment already, eh. It implies the beauty, frustration and ardour of falling in love.

“There's something about you now

I can't quite figure out

Everything she does is beautiful

Everything she does is right

'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do

Nothing to lose

And it's you and me and all other people

And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

and me and all other people with nothing to do

Nothing to prove

And it's you and me and all other people

And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?

And in what month?

This clock never seemed so alive”

Too Many to Mention...

Actually, there are so many love songs that can be added in this list, I'm just too shy to make this hub so lengthy. But you can always add in the comment box what's your favorite love song, eh.

So, till next time folks. :)

Two thumbs up! Great list of love songs huh? Sometimes we don’t need to talk to let the person we loved how we feel about them.
