Putting on a costume on Halloween is just half the fun. The other half is when you successfully scare the living daylights out of someone. So go out and find yourself a Spooky and scary Halloween Costume; remember the scarier, the better.

Why Spooky and Scary Halloween Costumes?

Halloween is one of the most fun times of the year. It's a time when everybody can be anybody, or anything. It's also a time when all the spooky characters come out for a little scare, or a lot depending on what they are.

Amongst the pretty princesses and cuddly bear outfits you can't help but notice more of the eerier individuals. Spooky and Scary Halloween costumes are a popular trend during this time and there are plenty of ghoulish costumes to choose from.

Aside from sweet treats and mild tricks; haunted houses, ghost stories and scary beings are what mainly make up the special occasion. That's why many people love to wear Spooky Halloween costumes.

It's not enough to decorate with fake spiders, glowing pumpkins and plastic skeletons, but to really get into the Halloween spirit you have to look like, act like and maybe even smell like the terrifying individuals and creatures that are synonymous with this day.

Maniacal Mime Costume

Regular mimes are already unnerving and strange, what more when they become killing machines?

Become the mime who couldn’t keep his deadly secrets silent with this Maniacal Mime costume. It features a bloodstained black and white striped mime shirt, black pants with suspenders, white gloves, and a black hat with attached stringy hair.

Paint your face white and add signature mime details along with a bloody mouth to match your bloody shirt.

Paper Magic Lady Nightshade the Ghost Bride Costume

This Ghost Bride costume comes with a polyester dress featuring a sheer overskirt, lace wrist inserts, a lace choker and a veil.

It’s either the torn and tattered appearance of the gown, the old antique style of the dress, the vintage jewelry or the overall ominous presence of this costume that makes it one of the spookiest you’ll ever come across.

If there’s one thing for sure, the groom of this bride is probably somewhere hiding.

Adult Sorceress Costume

Sorcerers are mystical individuals who are unpredictable when it comes to their powers and their true intentions.

You can tell just by looking at this adult sorceress costume that her intentions are anything but good.

Included in the costume is a polyester dress with tattered details on the sleeves and hem, a matching witch-styled hat, an eyeball medallion and an evil eyeball hand accessory.

Scary Clown Costume

Many people already have a phobia with these characters, so what more when you see them laughing evilly and lurking about on Halloween.

The Scary Clown Costume may get you some laughs but you'll probably get more terrified stares than anything else. With this costume, you'll surely be a nightmare come true for many.

This costume also comes complete with weapons and other unsettling clown accessories that'll complete your scary look.

Zombie Costume - Very Spooky Halloween Costume!

There's nothing comforting about the undead, especially when they're walking about looking to feast on the living.

The Zombie Costume is definitely a classic scary Halloween costume. It's the only time you can walk around in torn clothing and blood stains without someone trying to rush you to the emergency room.

After all, you are already dead so there's no need to try to "save" your life.

Evil Ventriloquist Dummy Costume

Little dummies who talk already give some people the heebie jeebies, what more when they come in full adult sizes.

The Evil Ventriloquist Dummy Costume is a great Halloween costume. It'll probably lower the demand for ventriloquists on special events or parties, but at least you'll be able to give people a good scare.

I'd have to go with a ghost or sorceress. I just can't "do" the gory ones lol

@Writer Fox thanks for the comment. Yes it's become increasingly popular in the UK over the last five years or so. Although it will probably never reach the popularity it has in the USA I know people are enjoying the dressing up more than they used to.

Is this holiday celebrated in the UK? I know it's popular in America and even adults sometimes wear costumes to Halloween parties.

In my country, it's not celebrated at all, but we have another holiday for wearing costumes and many of the ones you feature here would be great for that!

I like spooky stuff (ghosts, etc.) but nothing bloody or gory. So I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a zombie costume :) I like the 2 women costumes shown above, but the ghost bride costume is definitely my favorite.
