amybradley77, I love the Super Bowl commercials. The sponsers are always extra-creative for this time slot. Even if you don't watch to see the game, the commercials are worth the viewing. Thanks for the comment.

What a great hub!! I'll tell ya, people are really obsessed with the Super Bowl here in Texas! I've tried to watch football with my Grandma but just can't seem to get into it. She is such a Dallas Cowboys nut, LOL! She gets so worked up when she's watching the games.. especially if they are messing up. Those Cowboy coaches don't have anything on her! Anyway, although I just can't get into football, it's still lots of fun to go to the super bowl parties!

dahoglund, no wonder you are such an interesting writer you are so versatile. I found, and I'm sure you did too, that we learn the most when we work at smaller businesses. It seems they gently (or roughly) push you into different areas of work. For you it was the paper and the different areas of advertising, news coverage, and sports. You were able to learn some about each. For me it was craft management, custom framing, training the cashiers, and closing of the drawers and all of the things that went with them. There's something to be said for working for a smaller company - you get to become knowledgable about so many different areas other than what you were hired for. Of course, some of the work you to exhaustion.

This was so much fun to read.

I'm getting very excited for Sunday.

I love your recipes and will be book-marking them. Thanks for the creative hub with such variety.

Actually I was hired as an advertising assistant or some such things. But small town weekly papers do not have large staffs. My employer really wanted to shuffle off some of his work to spend more time with the fledgling Winnebago Industries that was starting up in that town. Therefore I sold some advertising, covered a bit of news and was responsible for the sports coverage, mostly high school stuff.

I did learn a trick to writing up games. Get your hands on the score book. With a little information from the coach and analyzing the scores you can pretty well figure out what went on.

I got layed of though because he did not get the increase in business to cover my salary.

I went to the University of Minnesoata back in the early sixties and took my first community paper job editing the sports page. My boss couldn't understnd how I went to a big ten school and didn't know football.

A wonderful hub. Yes I love the Super Bowl, and I love football. My oldest son played football, up until college. Then a back injury, caused him to stop playing. I still go to games when I can. I still support our football team. Love the snacks and recipes. Another great hub.
