Updated on May 25, 2016

I would love to teach you the entire Swedish language in this short article, resulting in you being able to speak like a native. Unfortunately that isn't possible, but when you have finished reading this you will be able to communicate with a Swedish speaker.

On the North Germanic branch of the Indo-European group of languages, Swedish is spoken by around 9 million people. It is the official language of Sweden and is spoken parts of Finland. It is also intelligable to speakers of Norwegian and Danish. Now we are going to learn 10 essential Swedish language phrases that will make us understood to any native speaking Swede. Speak Swedish Instantly Using English Words To Help Pronunciation.

Exercise 1 : Hello

The first word we will learn is the word every person, around the world, uses to greet each other: Hello. There are formal ways of saying this greeting, but we are on vacation so we'll use the pleasant, informal word.

Try this english word: shallow.

No complicated pronunciations with our first Swedish word. We should have no difficulty greeting our Swedish friends.

Pronounced : hallo.

Marvellous! We have spoken our first word in Swedish. Good job.

Exercise 2 : Where Are The Toilets?
