The 13th Gate: Haunted House Attraction in Baton Rouge, LA.

The 13th Gate Haunted House is widely recognized as one of the best haunted attractions in the country. and the Travel Channel have both rated it within the top 10 nationwide for several years. Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and surrounded by historic 18th Century plantation homes, the eerie feeling is present from the very beginning. Many visitors make it a tradition to visit the attraction year after year because it is ever-changing. The owners strive to make the experience new and exciting for those who are loyal to them and return each Halloween season.

The 13th Gate has received recognition as the scariest haunted house attraction in Louisiana. This is a bold statement when there is competition like The House of Shock and The Mortuary just an hour away. All three were ranked in the top 10 in one year. Unlike some of the others, The 13th Gate is a family friendly scare. They are open Thursday - Saturday from the end of September through the first week of November. They remain open every day during the week of Halloween.

The theme of the haunted house is 13 themes areas that represent most people's greatest fears. Snakes, claustrophobia, heights, and even being burned alive are all fair game. Much more of a psychological scare, but with its fair share of jump out and make you scream as well. The crew makes it a point to select the best actors to take their show over the top. Students from LSU's Film School to professional actors all take part in giving you a fright. You won't get grabbed or splattered on like you might at The House of Shock, but that doesn't mean they won't make you wet yourself by the time you leave!
