The Best Christmas Movies and Music
Getting into the Christmas Spirit
Santa Claus and his reindeer's, snow, lights, music, movies, gifts and family! This is what Christmas is all about and it is not about spending exorbitant amounts of money and buying the most expensive gifts just to impress someone, it is about family, togetherness and good old fashioned holiday cheer!
I am sure that everyone throughout the year has had some sort of problem or issue to face and we often get ourselves stuck into a rut but that changes once the festive season approaches.
The shopping centres with their décor and Christmas carols playing in the background while we shop for the gifts that will make someone smile and feel good as we take a break to meet up with a family member for a cup of coffee and a snack, to discuss the gift ideas that we have thought of;
The Christmas lights, Santa Claus, the red, green and gold of it all, makes up for the hard year and yes....we have all earned the right to be happy and cheerful!
A huge family gathering on Christmas eve or Christmas day with lunch that has been planned out for some time by your mom, the smell of turkey, the fantastic taste of stuffing and the decadent desserts that have been brought as a speciality from each family member, the laughter, the tears and the feeling of warmth, love and happiness for this special time, making Christmas worth the wait.
The rut that you have been stuck in, the financial or relationship troubles that you have been through, are all forgotten, forgiven and disappear just for this!
For those people that have not been able to find their holiday cheer and festive spirit, we have a couple of fantastic movies and music that will put you in the mood.
Christmas Movies to Remember
There are so many movies that have come out for the festive season throughout the years and the ones that have stuck out and been remembered as classics are the ones that will make you cry and make you feel good at the same time.
For those who are not into Christmas and have no reason to celebrate, buy gifts or accept invitations, the movie for you to watch is," Scrooged." Bill Murray starred in this 1980s classic and it changes your opinion on Christmas and makes you think about the person that you are.
It is a very old eighties movie but I still enjoy watching it a it gets me into the mood for the festive season. Almost a build up to Christmas and once you have watched it, you will learn the importance of family and friends, set aside the working hours and you will want to make time for those you love!
Scrooged - Bill Murray
This is also a great movie to get you into the festive mode!
Macaulay Culkin is the lead actor and he gets left at home while his family rush to the airport for their Christmas vacation. The things that he gets up to and the comedy aspect is terrific, while he learns to fend for himself. Definitely worth watching.
Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard and Catherine O Hara are also in the cast for this movie.
There were sequels to this but number one was the best of all of them.
Keep your eye on your kids during the crazy shopping and family events as this movies shows you how quickly accidents can happen and how easily you can forget things at home!
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase is one of my favourite comedy actors and this movie is hilarious and guaranteed to make you appreciate your own family and Christmas.
The movie is based on the Griswold family who spend Christmas with their in - laws and for Clark Griswold things never seem to go well but facing family and waiting for the arrival of his bonus cheque, helps him deal with the problems and stress that his crazy family bring.
I absolutely love this movie as it shows you how crazy family can be altogether in one place! At the end of the day, after arguments and the stress we all cause each other, family is important and Christmas brings everyone together.
It was released in 1989 and is still a good movie to watch today.
Also starring Beverly D Angelo, Juliette Lewis and a very young Johnny Galecki (Big Bang Theory)
This movie was fantastic and it is full of crazy family drama, décor problems and Chevy Chase loosing it!!!

What is Your Favourite Element of Christmas?
Christmas Holiday Fever
What is your favourite past time during Christmas?
I would have to say that my favourite is definitely the family gathering on Christmas Eve, where we have a huge feast and listen to music. Christmas day is a major feast with delicious traditional food, wine and music. It is something to look forward to the entire year and there is nothing better than spending this time with the ones that you love.
The decorating of the Christmas tree is also fun as we put on the music and sing a long whilst each member of the family decorates.
The shopping to me is stressful but I do enjoy it and I especially love the look on everyone's faces when they open their presents that have taken me ages to buy.
