I don’t know about you, but we fill Christmas stockings for every member of our family, even the furry members.  I’ve found it relatively easy to find great stocking stuffer ideas for the kids, but it’s a little bit more difficult to decide what St. Nick might leave for the grown-up constituent.  That’s why I’ve decided to share my tried and true ideas for stocking stuffers for men.

Things to Consider When Buying Stocking Stuffers for Men

Of course, like any other gift you’d buy, you need to consider the person you’re buying for.  My husband, for example, is very pragmatic.  For him, I first consider functionality and his needs.  He’s most likely going to appreciate something useful, or a product he already uses everyday.  He’s also the kind of man that enjoys nice things, like a fresh cologne or after-shave, but won’t buy them for himself.

Another obvious place to start is with his hobbies and interests.  Gifts that reflect who he is really show him you know him and are thinking about him.   Listen to him throughout the year, too.  Most of us make off-the-cuff comments about items we’d really like to have.  Or, just pay attention to the kinds of items he looks at when you’re out shopping together.  You can even make little notes to yourself throughout the year.  Trust me, you WILL forget later.

If you have a frugal man in your life, he just won’t appreciate an expensive non-necessity.  In fact, it might even irritate him you’ve “wasted” your money on such an extravagant gift.  In this case, you need to focus on functionality and everyday items.

I’ve compiled a list of the best stocking stuffers for almost any man in your life.  It’s hard to go wrong with these items.  Your goal will just be to personalize them a little to suit the personality or relationship you have with the man in your life.  These will work well for husbands, brothers, Uncles, Dads, Grandfathers, boyfriends, you name him, there’s an item for him on this list.

Razors and Grooming Kits on Amazon

Best Stocking Stuffers for Men

A Razor or Grooming Kit

What man doesn’t use a razor? And, there are some really nice razors on the market today. A grooming kit is also something every man needs and uses, a great stocking stuffer for a practical man.

Movie Tickets, Sports Tickets or Gift Certificates

Purchase 2 tickets for the movie or sports event he’s been dying to see. Of course, the other ticket is for you or someone else who’s special in his life, like his son, daughter or best friend. Or, purchase a gift certificate to his favorite restaurant, hair salon, outdoor store or coffee place.

Favorite Magazine or Magazine Subscription

You can get him a subscription for his favorite magazine and even print out a homemade gift certificate to show him it’s coming.  Or, if you don’t want to bother with the subscription, you could just put one magazine in the stocking.

Sleep Accessories

If you have a man in your life who travels and can’t sleep in hotel, ear plugs can be great for getting a peaceful night sleep. Stay away from the silicone ear plugs. Not only are they difficult to properly fit in your ear, especially if you have small ears, but they can actually hurt. Go for the soft, foam earplugs that will readily shape to fit your ears.

A noise maker or sleep sound machine is another fantastic option. Honestly, I know I can’t live without mine when we travel. They range in price and size.

A small travel pillow is another winning idea. Memory Foam makes a wonderful, compact pillow for weary travelers.

Gadgets

A Leatherman Tool is a fantastic stocking stuffer for any man. The smaller pocket-sized version is a great choice. It has a stainless steel knife, needle nose and regular pliers, wire cutters as well as hard wire cutters. It also has a file, saw, scissors, screwdrivers, a bit driver, bottle opener, a wire stripper, etc...  I know men who carry them everywhere, they’re like a Swiss Army knife only much more functional.

A Screen Protector
for his phone is another wonderful stocking stuffer for men. Even if he already has one, they do need to be replaced periodically.

A USB Flashdrive attached to a keychain. They are ideal for safely transporting data.

An MP3 Player, like the fantastic one SanDisk makes won't break the bank, but is a very functional and thoughtful stocking stuffer. I gave my husband this SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 player and he could not be happier. It's just fantastic quality and a great bargain.

Earbuds or Ear Phones come in handy for men who travel. Of course, they’re indispensable on airplanes, and they come in handy for train or bus commutes.

A Nice Thermal Coffee Mug

If he has a commute, having hot coffee or tea in the morning is a wonderful gift that keeps on giving. There are some high quality thermal mugs out there that will keep the coffee piping hot for a long time. While you’re at it, throw in some coffee beans or instant coffee. Starbucks makes a wonderful instant coffee. We bring it with us camping and are never disappointed.

When shopping for a thermal travel mug, the best ones have lids that seal shut.  That function really does help contain the heat, plus it prevents accidental spills.
