How old is she?

Remind me again

Of the unavoidable fact

That she’s grown up now.

Eighteen already

Can we not clutch time

Verily, verily

She's grown too fast.

But here she comes

In her silky gown

The reddest red

Sleek and chic.

I am in awe,

Astonished indeed

But have to hide

My flighty face!

And so I smiled

At her dazzling face

I can’t believe

She’s eighteen!

Clearly my dear

It’s happening

Hard to believe

The inevitable truth.

She’ll be on her own

Out of the nest soon

That’s kind of sad

Yet proud of her.

She's easy to love

Our true pride and joy

Very caring, very thoughtful

What else to ask?

With our bond so strong

Our love guaranteed

And a relationship

based on trust and honesty.

How do we elude

The realities of life?

I don’t know what to say

I couldn’t even guess.

I am thankful of the past

But wouldn't think much

Except to reflect and appreciate

The blessings that I've had.

I am grateful indeed

For the gift of now.

Remind me again,

How old is she?

Cris, this is a beautiful hub, and poem for KC. I remember when my little girl turned 18, I felt the same way. It really is the "gift of now" that I hold the dearest with that lovely lady.

Such a beautiful article. My oldest (my daughter) is getting close to that age and it's already on my mind... everything... This article serves as an encouragement and reminder to focus on today, every moment we have together before she leaves for college... A blessing, absolutely - one that nothing can compare to... and the same is true for each child...

God bless you and your little girl - yes, little girl, because that's how your heart will always see her... :)

Hello my hawaiianodysseus (Joe)! Thank you and yes, no matter what she'll always be my little girl. I call her mini-me actually because she is my mini-me according to my mom and she is indeed the daughter of her mother. *smile* Tell you what, you're not the first to say, we could pass for sisters and I'm flattered but very happy to be called "mommy" as well.

      Love from the sky~

      Hi, Cris!

      Oh, she's a beauty...like her Mom!

Yes, we know that time is flying by, and yet we still stop in our tracks, awe-stricken to find another woman in the house. What happened to that little girl? Where did she go?

One thing's for sure...she'll always be your little girl!

Tell me, Cris, how many times have people told you: "What? That's your daughter? You two could pass for sisters!"

If you haven't heard that before, you're hearing it now. Thanks for sharing, Cris! Way to be a proud mama! I like that! Aloha!

      Joe
