Independence Day And Its Importance

“WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA” – the preamble of our Indian constitution starts with it. Yes, we are the people of India who feel proud as being Indians. And 15th August is a day when we can proudly admire ourselves as Indian citizens as on this very day in 1947 we got freedom after 200 years from knowing as British colony. And now we are the independent Indian citizens who give tribute to those freedom fighters and patriots on this very day saluting them and remember them by celebrating this day joyfully. This is a day to remember the sacrifice of lives of the great freedom fighters and patriots who never cared about their family, their need, and their lives. To them freedom of their motherland was only aim and instigation. They used to see only one dream that is of the freedom of their nation, a united nation where everyone will stay in the bondage of brotherhood.

During that period everyone was involved to bring independence of their motherland. From a woman to a poet or to politician or a child, everyone’s first need and importance was to get freedom and make our country independent from the British rulers. Everyone was ready to get freedom in exchange of blood but they never wanted to be dominated by the British Government anymore. All Indians became distressed of being oppressed by the British rulers. They all wanted a change for sake of their nation at first and lastly for sake of their own interest. To them, their country would be a free country where the citizens of their nation would have the power to govern their own country but not by the others come from a different country. They did not want to live as a citizen of a conquered country. And lastly, the British government also felt that it would be impossible to them to rule over this country anymore. They did not have that strength anymore to dominate the people of India any more. And finally we got Independence on 15th August in 1947.

But this independence did not come in one day. Many had sacrifice their lives with a smile on their face feeling themselves as proud Indian who were giving their lives for the sake of the freedom of their motherland. Many poets, singers came forward to encourage the general people to fight against the foreign rulers. They wrote so many patriotic songs, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Kazi Najrul Islam were one of them. Rabindra Nath Tagore wrote our national anthem “Janaganamanaadhinayaka Jaya he”. The famous writer, Wrishi Bankim Cahndra Cahattapadhya wrote the famous song, “Vandemataram” and inspired all people to fight being united against the British rulers. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Mahatma Gahdhi, Jawar Lal Neheru, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpath Ray all were the famous patriots who fight for the freedom of their motherland. Ahimsa Movement, Satyagraha Movement, Banga Bhanga Movement were the famous movements which made the base of ruling strength of the British Government weak and they understood that they could no more be able to rule over the Indians. Their cruel domination even could not restrict the people of India to fight against them and finally they understood that they would have to leave this country so soon.

Now after getting independence we celebrate this festival with great enthusiasm and spirit. This day has become our national holiday. In the very morning our Hon’ble Prime Minister hosts our national flag from the very historical place Red Fort situated in Delhi. Then he gives a speech addressing to the nation and citizens of India on the matter of the historical importance of this day and contribution of the freedom fighters and patriots. He also speaks about the developments and achievements of our country. The march past is hold by the Indian soldiers. They fly tri- colored balloons in the sky; Indian Air Force spreads tri- colored color from sky.

In cities, schools, collages, club societies, banks celebrate this festival with lots of joy and fun. People also host flag there, senior people also give there speech on how the independence come to this country, how freedom fighters and patriots serve for this country. They play patriotic songs, even arrange cultural programs, distribute prizes to students, hold competitions based on independence theme, quizzes etc for entertainment purpose. TV channels telecast patriotic movies; radio stations play patriotic songs all day long.

People wish each by distributing sweets and snakes, arranging get together. Students, especially teenagers wish each by binding wrist bands, greetings cards. Now people have also make a different world in their life and that is their net world. They now also make there a friend circle where they spend a quality time. Here they also wish each other by sending beautiful Independence Day Scraps, Independence Day Greetings. Some use to wish through phone also. They send beautiful Independence Day SMS, 15th August Messages as it’s very easy to type and send takes a very low cost that can everyone afford. In this way we the people of India celebrate this festival by memorizing those tough moments that our former generation faced and by giving tribute to them and organizing cultural programmes and make this festival colorful and remarkable.
