Hippie Themed Party

The whole idea for this theme would be for everything and everyone to be as colorful as possible.

WHAT TO WEAR

Tie dye shirts, bell bottom pants, dread lock wigs, flowered dresses, lots of colorful bangles, head bands.

You could also tie a piece of string around your ankle or wrist, and put a flower or two in your hair - this gives a good hippie effect. Also, ladies should wear very little or no makeup.

DECORATIONS

Use white table clothes, as everything else will be very colorful, and if you think it wouldn't overdo it, you could tie die the table clothes. Definitely have lots of flowers on your tables and maybe hang some piece signs on the back of the chairs, or even from the ceiling.

FOOD

Back then in the 60's hippies use to mostly eat organic food. Most true hippies were either vegetarian or vegan. You did get the exception, though, were some hippies ate junk food. Here are some links to recipes for Hippie Food...

Hawaiian Themed Party

This party theme is best to have outside on a sunny day. The use of lots of colors, flowers, and pineapples will make it look beautiful.

WHAT TO WEAR

Have your guests wear flower shirts, straw hats, and everyone should definitely be wearing a lei.

Below you will find a link on how to make flowers out of tissue. String the flowers you crafted together to make a lei.

DECORATIONS

Use flower printed table clothes, or a white tablecloth, and pin some flowers (preferably Hibiscus flowers) to the sides of the table. Display a pineapple or two on each table. Coconuts could also give a nice effect. You could even go as far as to throwing some beach sand on the floor to give a beach-feel to the party.

FOOD

Place a fruit platter on each of the tables, containing tropical fruits like bananas, kiwi fruit, mango, pineapple and papaya. Serve cocktails in pineapple halves.

Below you will find links to some interesting cocktail and Hawaiian food recipes.

More Ideas For Themed Parties

WEAR A HAT

You could ask your guests to wear any kind of hat to your party.

Be creative. Wear a witches hat, hard hat, party hat, Christmas hat, a beanie or a cowboy hat.

TRAILER PARK

You and your guests should wear anything trashy. Short skirts, leopard print clothes, high heels. Mess up your hair, or put some curlers in them. Draw fake mustaches for the males. Wearing a wife beater top is also a good way for looking trashy, for the men, that is. The ladies should wear thick makeup, and bright red lipstick will top it off nicely.

WEAR A MASK

Have your guests wear any kind of mask. Instead of wearing the typical face mask people always wear at masquerades, be original by wearing something scary, or funny.

GOTHIC

We all know what goths look like. Have some fun and dress up just like them.

Enjoy!

Lucy, you could even make those paper flowers, or actually your daughter, for decorating a hippie themed party. I know I enjoyed making them when I use to be a teenager. And its very easy.

I love the Hippie themed party idea - and I know my daughter and friends would love it - mixing the old and new generations in one style. Voted up and funny!
