Dedication

This writer's Grandmother passed away in 1994. Christmas had always been her favorite time of all. There are also others who are in attendance at the family party that do not come anymore. Here is a poem that reflects what emotion the holidays bring, and this dedication is to all those who were not there, especially Grandma.

When Not Everyone Attends The Party

I am sorry you
Missed the party.
I understand there
Was a good reason.

Were you infirm?
Did my favorite couple separate?
Not getting along?

Is that special someone
We don't see
Is no longer with us?

You'll be missed.
We are getting older.
Other things to do.

Maybe they moved
Too far away.

Maybe the employer
Said, "Bah Humbug!"
You have to
Go to
Work anyway.

There's an empty chair.
The space under the
Christmas tree
Once held that present.

The Fine Wine,
The Fine Dine,
The fun conversations-
Not the same without you.

If you don't
Answer your phone,
I'll pray for you.
Your presence
Will be missed.

But only
God knows
How we can
Still celebrate.

We'll still have
Joy celebrating.
The holiday will
Continue to be
If I see you or not.
But the
Memories
Are priceless.

How I feel about you:
You will always exist
In My Heart.

This poem reminds us all not just of those who can no longer attend as they are no longer with us... but of all the other reasons we are missing family and friends at our Holiday Parties. Thanks.

Beautiful poem with sad message Twin Sis. Christmas is always a time of happiness tinged with the sadness of those loved ones absent from our lives. I'm sure your grandmother is smiling down at you.

God bless and enjoy the rest of your Christmas with your family.
