1. Cool Gadgets

A website called ThinkGeek specializes in cool gadgets and toys. Most of what they sell is science and education-related, but their products are also unique and exciting! For example, they have a USB LED Beverage Cooler which plugs into your computer and keeps one can of pop/soda cold. This is great for boys who play a lot of video games or spend a lot of time on the internet. ThinkGeek sells a lot of novelty items as well.

2. TV on DVD/BluRay

Complete season of television shows on DVD or BluRay can be a great gift to give the teenage boy who enjoys TV. If you're not sure which television show to purchase, certain television shows are so widely popular that there is a good chance he will enjoy it. Purchasing the first season of a show (if he doesn't already have it) is a great way to start him on a series.

Examples of popular TV shows:

  • The Simpsons
  • Family Guy
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office

3. Video Games

A lot of teenage boys like playing video games. If you're thinking of purchasing him a game, first find out which gaming system(s) he has, such as PlayStation 3 (PS3), Xbox 360, Wii, PC, Nintendo DS, etc. If you're not sure what type of games he likes to play, consider casually asking, or purchasing a game that is really popular at the moment. If it turns out that he doesn't like the game, many video game stores offer exchanges/store credit, even if the game has been used.

4. Headphones

Nothing beats a great pair of headphones. If he enjoys listening to music, watching TV/videos online, or listening to podcasts, great quality head phones are sure to be a hit.

There are many different types of headphones in many different price ranges.

Skullcandy is a brand that is known for its bright colours and designs on their headphones. They are designed for someone who listens to music often as it has wide range of styles, depending on personal preference. For example, there is a “lowrider” type that is smaller and is “DJ” styled.

Tritton is the official brand of headphones for Xbox 360, so this can be the perfect gift for any teenage boy that plays on an Xbox 360.

The brand Bose is widely known for its quality and specialization in audio technology.

5. Graphic T-Shirts

Probably one of the most popular garments amongst teenage boys, graphic t-shirts are widely available and can fit into almost any gift budget.

They are available at Target, WalMart, Hot Topic and basically any store that sells clothing for teenagers.

The great thing about Graphic T-shirts is that they can appeal to almost any interest. They often have graphic of super heroes, logos, references to pop culture, designs, quotes, phrases and more!

6. Posters

Much like Graphic T-shirts, posters are readily available and can suit almost any taste. They are also inexpensive and can help him express himself by decorating his room or locker with posters of things he likes.

7. Cologne/Fragrance Sampler

As he starts growing up, he may want to try using cologne/fragrance instead of other body sprays such as Axe. Brands and scents of cologne/fragrance may not be something he knows a lot about, but luckily there is a sampler set available.

These sampler sets give you about 10 small size versions of popular fragrances. Testing out each one allows him to figure out which one he likes best and once he's made the decision, he can trade in the included voucher for the full size version. This is a great gift to give because it gives him the choice of which full size fragrance he wants.

Some drug stores that sell fragrances may offer this type of set, but Sephora (a large cosmetics and fragrance store) sells a set like this and it is also available online.

8. Sports Apparel

If he's a sports fan, he probably has a favourite team. If you know his favourite team, you could purchase him a sweater, jacket or t-shirt with that team's logo and name on it. That way, he can wear it with pride where ever he goes!

A store online called FansEdge allows you to select a specific team and from there it shows you all the types of clothes available that feature that team.

9. A Remote Controlled Helicopter

Possibly one of the coolest toys ever, a remote controlled helicopter will entertain almost any teenage boy!

10. iTunes Gift Card

An iTunes Gift Card can be a great gift to give if he has iTunes on his computer, an iPhone or an iPod Touch. This kind of gift card can work for purchasing music, television shows and movies for download, 'apps', games and more!

Gift cards to his favourite store can be a great gift as well because then he is able to choose his own gift.
