Top 10 Ways to Celebrate Your 21st Birthday

Updated on October 16, 2011

On October 17th, I will turn 21. So that got me thinking about what I should do to celebrate. This is a big day right? Your 21st birthday is big to a lot of younger people. When you turn 21 you are able to drink alcohol, legally. Don't get me wrong, birthdays really don't mean a whole lot to me anymore since I'm not getting presents from everyone like I did when I was 10. But your 21st birthday almost feels like you're hitting another milestone in life. This means no more giving money to a friend to go inside and get what we want to drink and hope that he gets what we want. Now I have an entire isle to search through and find exactly what I want. I've had my fare share of underage drinking. Hell, I've even gotten a MIP, and that's a common thing with younger people. They drink, and then they get caught. I learned my lesson though, that's why I'm so glad 21 is upon us. I will no longer have to worry about being underage and getting in trouble. Now the only thing left to do is figure out what I should do to celebrate. This is my list of the top 10 things to do to celebrate your 21st.

10. Go to the Bar

Well it doesn't sound too fun, but then again every time I've been in a bar before I was sober. I'm legally able to drink, let's go to the bar and use my Constitutional right to drink, So lets get trashed! But I can't stay long, I have all day to celebrate. It's only 10 a.m., and I still have more places to go.

9. Throw a Party

What better way to celebrate your birthday than to have a bunch of your best friends there having a good time. Who know, maybe you'll have some random people there that you don't know. You may make some new friends, and have fun with your friends.

8. Stay Home and Watch Football

This one may not be a popular decision for many reasons. For your birthday you want to go out and party. For some of us this may be the best decision to go. If you go out and party, chances are with it being your birthday you could overdo it. So if you stay in your own home, you can do whatever you want (within reason), and you wont have to worry about driving drunk or something crazy like that. Plus watching football and drinking some beer is fun.

7. Go to Karaoke

Everyone loves going to the bar, and having some drinks. Once you get a few drinks in you, almost everyone is now willing to make an ass of themselves on stage singing some song they don't know. It's only funny if you're not the one singing, but if you are singing, you thought you owned the stage.

6. Go on a Road Trip

Whether you're going a couple hours to go to a show or event. Even if you have nothing better to do and just want to go for a ride. Being stuck in a car with you're friends for an extended amount will drive you crazy, but it is so much fun. Be careful though, you don't want to get caught with any open containers.

5. Go to the Club

This is very similar to going to a bar. With this option you will be going to the club to get drunk, have fun, and maybe get lucky and meet someone. If you're not a dancer, just mingle and converse with others. This could be a very fun option as long as you have a wingman. The wingman is the key, without the wingman you seem vulnerable. Sometimes that wingman may just help you out and get you the girl.

4. Go Bowling

This may sound like something that kids would like to do for their birthday. But not me. There's a bar there so I can drink. Plus I love bowling, I've always liked going with my friends and having fun while playing. Sometimes on Fridays and Sundays they do what's called cosmic bowling that features neon colors, lazer lights and all kinds of entertainment to make us enjoy bowling even more.

3. Catch a Game

There's nothing more exciting than going to a sports event. Whether it's a professional game or college, it's always fun to go watch a game. Just make sure you don't get too plastered or you'll think you can play and you'll go try to get onto the field.

2. Go to a Concert

Unfortunately this is something that doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is amazing. Going to concerts is awesome, especially if you're a little inebriated. The only bad thing is you're favorite band won't be playing everyday, so there's no guarantee that you will get to see them on your birthday. But if all else fails, go to any concert and get plastered. It will be good at the time, then the next day you realize how bad the band really was.

1. Strip Club!

Yes, I said it. We're going to the strip club! There's nothing better than going to the club and getting a special lap dance because it's your birthday. I've had a birthday lap dance before, granted I was working at the club at the time and this was after we closed, but damn it I got a birthday lap dance! I know next time it won't be nearly as good. I got a birthday dance from 3 girls, one of which i ended up dating afterwards. But trust me, best idea for 21st birthday, strip club!

I hope you enjoyed my countdown. Feel free to comment and let me know if there was something I missed. I still have yet to decide what I am going to do to celebrate. Whatever I decide to do, I'm sure it will be something on my list.

Maybe you could have added in that this was a 'Guys' way of celebrating his 21st... Having it be necessity to have "wing man" when going clubbing and getting a lap dance isn't really the usual for us ladies.
