Festive Turkey Centerpiece For Halloween and Thanksgiving-Felt And A Pineapple
I have been making these little turkeys for about 5 years. I got the pattern from an old friend. I have made them for friends and church bazaars. Big hit! it's a wonderful hostess gift. All you need is felt squares and a fresh pineapple with a big top. According to the color you choose, it could be used as a Halloween centerpiece on a bed of colorful leave and small gourds. For Thanksgiving, a few chrysanthemums and tiny pumpkins. It smells good, and you can eat it!
I scanned the pattern as a jpeg.
Right click it
And print it full page
Cut it out ✄
Use the color felt of your choice
Trace around pattern with
a pencil . It won't show because
when it's sewn it will be inside.
Sewing it together
Place 2 felt pieces together with drawing on top
Pin or tack together with thread
so they won't move around.
Sew on the machine exactly on the drawn line.
DO NOT sew between the arrows
Trim close to stitching and turn. I use eyebrow tweezers and blunt utensils to pull the neck through.
After turning, stuff neck cavity with cotton.
Leave the bottom half empty and the back open
✄ Glue eye on each side
Felt squares come in many colors
I buy left over trim
When turning the fabric, don't use anything with a sharp point
Glue the trim
Place the turkey over a rolled towel and glue the trim. When it dries, it will look festive on a big tailed fresh pineapple!
