‘Twas the Night Before Christmas - 2017 Edition
‘‘Twas the night Before Christmas”
‘Twas the night before Christmas
and in our track suburban house,
Every creature was stirring
The kids, dogs, cats,fish.. and probably even a mouse.
Mom and Dad wrapped presents, drinking beer and popping Xanax ...2 each,
In hopes of not losing their minds waiting for their ADD kids to fall asleep.
The stockings dangled by the fake chimney with ease,
In hopes that Childrens Benadryl would kick in bringing both parents much silence & peace.
With much needed quiet... oh..
a loud scream and boisterous clatter
‘twas Dad throwing his tools....yelling at Barbie and Hot Wheels instructions written in 15 languages with 8 different patterns.
Time ticks on..
Dad’s graduating to Whiskey,
As Moms about to pass out on the floor.
With light peaking through, they’ve finished, still closer to eyes bright as the Sun,
As Dad starts the coffee machine,
Both Mom and Dad “High Fiving” in victory.. “Yes! Woohoo!! We’ve won!”
As sleep deprived Zombie Santa parents press on across the world and in many places,
These bloodshot eye evenings become worth it instantly at the sight of these smiling faces.
St. Nick is you,
St. Nick is Me,
St. Nick will always be a conduit of Joy,
The protector of innocence and wonder for every young Girl and Boy,
So on Dasher, on Prancer, run Blitzen take flight,
Raise a glass on Christmas evening parents!
A salute to one and all...
relax, chill, and good night!
