Valentines Cupcakes and Decorating Ideas

When you think of Valentine's Day you think if chocolates, flowers and Valentines Day cupcakes! Valentines day cupcakes are increasing in popularity! There are many great ways to decorate cupcakes.  Here are a collection of some of the better ideas for decorating cupcakes that I have found.  And there are a lot of great ideas here too. You can make heart shaped cupcakes by using molds!  There are some great tips on icing and even a creative twist by using fruit by the foot to decorate the tops!

Sunbeam FPSBCML900 Cupcake Mixer, Pink

 The Sunbeam Cupcake Mixer can bake up to six cupcakes in ten minutes. It has non stick cooking pans for easy clean up.  Not only can you cook cupcakes, you can cook morning muffins.  The Sunbeam Cupcake maker received four and half stars out of five from five customer reviews. Customers like that there is no mess and it is easy to clean.  Customers also comment how their five year old can easily cook cupcakes now.

Wilton 6-Cavity Silicone Heart Mold Pan

 The Wilton 6 Cavity silicone heart  mold pan can cook your cupcakes into a perfect heart shape. It is made of silicone and is very flexible. Cupcakes just pop out.  The silicone mold is dishwasher safe.It is easy to put in the refrigerator or the freezer.  Each heart measures 2 1/2 inches deep. The entire pan is 10 1/4 inches by 7 1/2 inches. One cake mix can make 20-24 cupcakes.  It comes in the color red of course!

 These yummy cupcakes are chocolate cupcakes topped with marshmallow topping. The cupcakes themselves were made with mayonnaise an d not eggs.  The cook really liked the Way these cupcakes looked like they had yogurt on top!


 To decorate cupcakes sometimes all you need is a little candy.  These cupcakes were decorated by jelly beans, candy corns and other red and pink candy treats.  Don't forget sweetheart candies to get your message across!


Sometimes it is just all about the frosting.  Little ones love decorating Valentine cupcakes with frosting!  If you  do not want to invest in spending money on already prepared colors, you can make your own frosting. There are several ways to make a base frosting that you can separate and color with food coloring.  Also if you don't want to spend money on icing bags for piping just fill a sandwich size ziplock bag with the color of your choice and squeeze it all down to a corner.  Cut the corner a little to allow you to squeeze the icing through!

Buttercream frosting recipie

For an easy buttercream frosting just wisk these ingredients all together. Seperate and color with foodcoloring 

  • 6 tbsp of margerine or butter
  • 16 oz bag of confectionary sugar
  • 1/8th tsp salt
  • 3-4 tsp milk
  • 1tsp vanilla


Check out these beautiful cupcakes!  Believe it or not the roses are made with the candy Fruit by the foot.  Use the strawberry or cherry flavored ones. Take them and cut them in half.  Then begin wrapping them loosley around each other.  Place the completed flower on top of a cupcake already frosted with white frosting. Cut leaves out of green fruit by the foot and place them around the flower 

 These are an original idea!  The tops of the cupcakes are baked in a heart mold.  They are highlighted in confectionery sugar and placed atop a pink frosted cupcake.  They are very cute!

      Wonderful hub! Last year I baked cookies and biscotti for Valentine's, but the cupcakes are so popular this year and much easier to bake. Thanks for the decoration ideas. My wedding anniversary is Feb. 13th, so I like to do something special for Valentines.
