Valentine's Day...It's OK.
Today's the day when an abundance of people wake up and think to them selves, " I wonder what he/she got me? ". After, they get their gift they realize even more how much they love the person. Some are waking up and dreading having to see the the cut out paper shaped like hearts in their offices. A few are going to Dunkin Donuts and aggravated because their favorite donuts are in heart shaped form. Thereafter, they go home and watch t.v. as they watch they think ," I would love for someone to cuddle with me!". As they go to bed they go cuddle with their laptop (if you catch my drift).
I was going to write a blog on how Valentine's Day can suck it. Honestly, it would've just been out of spite. I would've just written it because I don't have a girlfriend. I don't wanna do that because I don't want to seem like that grumpy old guy at the retirement home that all the nurses say before they give me my pills, " How's Mr. Serra today? Well, he didn't throw his dog at me today.". Nope, I'm not like that at all. I think love is a beautiful and a powerful thing. People have killed themselves over love. Have died because their wife or husband of 50 years passed away and 3 months later pass away as well. Lonely with a broken heart. Some have even cut their ear off for a woman (Van Gogh).
Yes, I am single. I am having/had my "fun". There is not a moment though when I talk to a girl and that one laugh we share, the hesitant eye contact, and the first kiss that I don't think, " Can she be the one? " It's like when I think of a joke, the non-stop thinking of how it could work? How should I say it? Will it be funny? That is the same when I talk to a girl and there is some crazy connection. Let it be (no pun intended), she LOVES the Beatles. She quotes Ace Ventura, Anchorman, or How I Met Your Mother (when she quotes one of these I automatically think, "shes fucking cool."). She loves John Belushi or somebody from the first class of SNL. It's just one of the premature levels of love before I can even say the words, " I love you." to the person.
I am that guy who likes to be single, but knows that if I was in a relationship. I'd be a hell of a boyfriend. Ya it's fun not having to answer to no one. Not having a girlfriend jealous as shit because I made the counter girl laugh. I wouldn't be with a girl like that. My future girl will be astonishing. I'm talking about the girl who will be my girlfriend, my best friend, and my wife. I don't know who she is. Maybe I've walked by her in the village in NYC or Stop and Shop in Union,NJ., Maybe I've talked to her already, or just maybe...we haven't met at all. When it happens though, we'll know. Love is so powerful it takes 90 seconds to 4 minutes to realize you're into someone (I know because I Googled it).
I do not want you to be upset at your self. Don't go crying about how you will never find that "someone". You will. It just hasn't happened yet. Remember Valentine's day is about love. Tell your grandparents you love them. Your parents that they are the best friends that anybody could ever have. Just don't bring yourself down. Really? What's the point? You're going to just put a damper on your mood. That person who ever it is that's going to end up with you is wondering where their true love is too. So, enjoy the chocolate (drink chocolate milk with oreos, SSOOO GOOD!), go grab a drink with your single ladies or guy friends, and just remember. Breathe easy...life is beautiful.
