Valentine's Day

Updated on February 5, 2013

Valentine's Day

To many, Valentine's Day is about love and showing love to their significant other. The single people hate the holiday cause it reminds them how lonely they are. To me, Valentine's Day is just another day. February 14th is just another ruse to take people's money and give them hope about something that might not be real. Love is real, it's a feeling that none of us can deny having. We don't have to show our significant other that we love them by buying them flowers or candy on one certain day of the year. In order to show love, appreciation and care we should show them everyday. That is what matters within a relationship. Sure, getting flowers, cards and candy one day a year is nice but showing someone how much you love and care for them every single day of every single year is the nicest of all. In my opinion, Valentine's Day is just a hype and a gimmick.

Interesting perspective. It's a tradition to be conditioned with the effects of Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day has always been my favorite holiday because it's that one day where everyone is in love with everyone whether it be a significant other, a parent, child, relative, best friend. It's a commercialized event, true. It's also a day of reflection of how everyday should be an I heart you day.
