What We Can Do This Lent To Bring Us Closer To Jesus
Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance and prayer. It is a season for reflection and preparing oneself for Easter. Remember when we were kids we were asked to give up something for Lent , And most of the time we said we could give up candy, soda or gum and that was fine has kids, but what do we do has adults at lent time. Lets try this lent season to get closer to Jesus, here is how we can do that.
For Lent, let us give up complaining and focus on gratitude, be greatful for the things you do have, many in the world have nothing .
Give up bitterness and turn to forgiveness, now a good time to forgive and also ask to be forgiving . We must be willing to forgive others if we want Jesus to forgive us.
Give up hatred and return good for evil. In order for goodness to come your way you must show it to everyone you meet, treat everyone as you would want them to treat you .
Give up anger and be more patient. Try to be more understanding and patient with people, keep your anger in check.
Give up harsh judgments and think kindly thoughts. Remember those who judge others will be judged has well.
Give up worrying and trust Divine Providence. Worrying never solved anything. prayer will get you a positive answer.
Give up gossiping and control your tongue. Remember once you say it you can never take it back.
Give up jealousy and pray for trust. Never be jealousy of anyone, be happy for who you are and what you have .
Give up sin and return to virtue. Now is a great time to turn your back on sin and embrace the goodness of Jesus Christ .
Give up gloom and enjoy the beauty all around you. If you stop and look around you’ll see God in all the beauty in this world .
We can also not only do these things during Lent ,but though out the whole year. This will help to bring us all closer to Jesus and show Him we are His true friends .
On Palm Sunday, there were crowds who cheered Jesus as the King, but where were all those so called friends when Jesus prayed in agony on Gethsemane, and where were they when He hung upon the cross?
Let us show Jesus that we as Christians are not just His fans, we are His friends. Let us be brave to join Him, fasting in the wilderness for forty days during Lent; let us be brave to pray with Him in the garden on Holy Thursday, let us fearlessly stand at the foot of His cross on Good Friday, so that we may witness His Resurrection and His Ascension, and join in His triumphant reign. And on that Last Day, when Jesus brushes away all the fans, let us be among His true friends, who He will welcomes into His glory and Kingdom .
