WickingDry Nightwear - a Nifty Gift

Updated on January 13, 2014

Wick Away Your Night Sweats & Sleepless Nights With These Tips & Supplements

Celebrate another benefit of modern technology. We used to be concerned with keeping our tots dry at night and eventually concentrate on finding methods to keep ourselves dry.

Most wicking nightwear is composed of a blend of cotton and synthetic fibers, designed to pull sweat off the body to move through the fabric so it can evaporate into the air.

You may be familiar with wicking socks which allow the feet to feel dry during exercise or work. Wicking pajamas and other nightwear work the same way for the same result, a nice and dry body.

All garments made of specialty wicking fabrics are washable with one caveat: use no fabric softener either in the wash or in the dryer.

Beat Perimenopause, the Early Onset of Menopausal Symptoms - a growing phenomenon these days in even younger women

Menopause is the natural function of a woman's body when production of female hormones drops and fertility comes to an end.

Surgically caused menopause happens when a woman undergoes a hysterectomy and declines to take Hormone Replacement Therapy. Women on HRT after a hysterectomy must cease taking HRT, incurring that surgically caused Menopause at a time when their comfort and self image is already challenged by sometimes disfiguring surgery.

This is especially important for those women whose cancer is Estrogen Receptor Positive (meaning that the cancer cells' growth is enhanced by the estrogen hormone).

This jaunty pj set pulls the heat out of your core, right where night sweat fire usually builds up. Two pieces you won't want to sleep without!

Imagine the wicking fabric, magnified a zillion times over, as a tube that ventilates.

It lifts moisture from the inner end of the tube (your skin) to the open outer end (the surface of the nightwear fabric) so it can evaporate and keep you cool.

Now, imagine coating the open end with the waxy softener substance, and you can see how the purpose of the fabric has been thwarted. If you forget, use a softener sheet in the dryer - it will take five or more washings to get rid of the wax, but eventually the fabric will wick away sweat again!

Simply wash the garments in the washer or by hand, and then hang them up to dry. They dry fast and will continue to serve their purpose and you will be delighted.

What a great idea. I had medication for a while that was making wake up in the middle of the night drenched. I wish I had know about these then.
