Abomination

Updated on August 19, 2013

Abomination

"So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication" (The Holy Bible, Book of Revelation of Saint John the Evangelist, Chapter 17, verses 3-4)

President George W. Bush warned us about evil-doers but we didn't listen. We did not listen mostly because he was doing a lot of evil himself and we tend to tune out hypocrites. But he was right (right-wing at least) and now the proverbial chickens have come home to roost.

This lens is scary and if you are chicken, then you might not want to read any further.

Bashar Hafez al-Assad is the current President of Syria and Regional Secretary of the Syrian-led branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. Blood bath party might be more apt because everywhere this party rules there is a bloodbath. Assad is not very popular in Syria because he is attempting to exterminate the population of Syria.

The world does little because eliminating Assad "would lead to chaos" and "destablilize other countries in the region". This is exactly what is going on in Syria and surrounding countries now.

See? I told you this lens would be scary. You have to think like an adult when you visit one of my lenses -- and that is scary !!!

examples of the Biblical Hebrew term shiqquwts ("shiqqûts")

Antichrist -- Back in the time of Daniel in the Book of Daniel, this was of Antiochus IV Epiphanes.

Hellenization -- No this word does not mean making life hell. It refers to adopting the culture and language of Ancient Greece (Hellenic). Jesus Himself spoke several languages: Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek, and possibly Egyptian and Latin. It was not the language per se that ticked off the ancient Hebrews, it was being forced to worship Zeus (a mythological god) instead of Jehovah.

sinful sacrifices -- killing a person

idolatry -- not just watching American Idol on FOX, idolatry means worshipping physical objects such as phones and mobile devices

witchcraft -- Today the politically correct term is Wicca.

examples of the Biblical Hebrew term sheqets

seafood that lacks fins and scales -- Some people are allergic to seafood. And today the ocean is so polluted (both radioactive waste, toxic chemicals and biomedical waste) that you should not eat anything that comes out of it.

all insects except for locust, crickets, and grasshoppers -- The last three are the only insects that are not considered abomination because they are a good source of protein. I'd de-vein them before frying them.

eagles, ossifrage, and the osprey -- Predators and carnivores, two reasons to avoid eating them because they have accumulated in their meat all the toxins from prey lower in the food chain. Besides, the eagle is the national mascot of the USA (and other countries) and eagles have been known to save humans from certain death. Simple courtesy not to eat them.

examples of the Biblical Hebrew term Toeba

"haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers." -- This is according to the Book of Proverbs 6:16-19. Spreading strife among sisters was not covered but the Bible tended to be generic in referring to both genders.

other examples of Toeba

1. illicit sex

2. idolatry or idols

3. illicit marriage

4. male prostitution and (collectively) heterosexual immorality

5. temple prostitution -- obsolete these days

6. offerings from the above -- According to the Book of Deuteronomy 23:18, this means tithing money earned by prostitution or male prostitution or into the collection during a worship service or in the votive box where the candles are in a synagogue (church for Christians, fire temple for Zoroastrians).

7. child sacrifice

8. cross-dressing

9. cheating in the market by using rigged weights -- mostly a third world practice but this could be programmed into algorithms so perhaps it persists in Western culture

10. dishonesty -- See number nine as an example.

11. dietary violations -- not kosher

12. stealing, murder, and adultery, breaking covenants

13. usury, violent robbery, murder, oppressing the poor and needy, etc. -- usuary is something done mainly by bankers (contrary to media reports, a few have gone to jail but mostly small fry)

Comment: No wonder Christianity is on the decline, a lot of these things are fun and pay the bills. If ExxonMobil and BP and other fossil/fission companies can make obscene profits by destroying the Earth and remain among the biggest companies on Earth, then why should anyone care about anything? Why not work for one of these companies and consciously ignore the consequences? It is not like the climate was changing or the air was unfit to breathe or fish from the sea unfit to eat.

Some religions regard tattoos and piercing as graffiti on the temple of God. You cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery for example.

Perhaps inspired by the destruction left behind by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans restaurants, this is the kitchen in the Audubon insectarium. If they cannot use the bug spray in the foreground, then they should use a hammer and a shoe.

One of these is bad enough but they sometimes come together . . .

. . . and with debris and hail big enough to kill you.

oh sh*t, now they're giving robots guns

Didn't these guys in the military see that movie "The Terminator"?

Has anyone in the military even heard of Asimov's Laws of Robotics?

I'm sure that they have. So, it's like they know that they are opening the door to human extinction -- and just don't care.

This Halloween, watch some scary movies - and read some scary books
