We didn't do a bloomin' thang. You see, some of my ancestors came from Ireland, but they were hated by the Irish. The Scots-Irish were protestants sent from Scotland to Ireland to tell those Roman Catholics how to run their religion, and the Irish didn't take to it very well. I think that lasted about 100 years, and then folks like mine gave up and came to America to tell the Indians how to run their Great Spirit. After receiving a few arrows in their carcases, my ancestors finally gave up there, too, and married them and passed them off as white "Christians, protestant variety. So you see, when I wear green on St. Paddy's day, it is only to keep people from pinching me. But I do enjoy the shamrock-shaped cookies with green frosting that people bring to work.
