Get up, go to the lavatory, get dressed, have my breakfast, and run my day as I do any other weekend. Why, what's special about the weekend that follows Thursday, 4th of July?

A lot of people vacation on the weekend after Independence Day. It's a nice break from the struggles of every day life.

Haven't thought about it. At least this year there is the possibility of fire works. But what about food? To visit my parents or my husbands mother? Who will have the better cooking? His mother. But it would be a nice plan to visit the parade. Heck, my dad is usually in the parade. Maybe I can join him this year. But what special treat can we make at the house..... homemade ice cream... No, Blue Bell is the best. Can't top that... a pie or a cake sounds like the best bet.
As for that weekend, not too much special. Just making sure I have all the equipment, etc.
What are you planning for July 4th?

I work night shift that evening so I will be sleeping most of the day and in uniform monitoring a satellite all night.

Your profile says you like random facts. Did you know the world's first nuclear meltdown was in Idaho? http://radiantwriting.hubpages.com/hub/ … ly-17-1951

No, I didn't. But I'm sure my brother knows. He's a nuclear nut. Hmmmm.... You might want to pack a nice couple of treats to indulge in on shift.

I think we might have a pot luck and have our kids and families over for a barbecue and fireworks.  Sounds good now, we'll have to see.

That sounds awesome. I love barbecues and fireworks. I might download a video of fireworks and order bbq wings while I'm working that night.
