Absolutely! I love Christmas Eve - now, I know that doesn't sound like your typical "holiday", but Christmas is kind of sad really. First off, I'm talking about the commercialized holiday and not religious.
That out of the way... I consider Christmas to be sad. It's the end of the build up that has happened since Thanksgiving. There is no more anticipation of the family dinner to come, or presents under the tree. The shops and homes on the streets get prepared to take decorations down, or already are doing so come Christmas day. The "holiday cheer" has subsided and it quite often feels to be like that feeling you get after eating a huge Thanksgiving meal and everyone is sitting around stuffed ready for naps.
This is why for me Christmas Eve is the best. It's the height of anticipation for presents, the family meal, Santa for the children, and usually it's a night and day filled with baking, preparing for the upcoming festive party, happy times and singing to music. I find that on Christmas Eve it's often lots more enjoyable and "in the spirit" than Christmas day itself.
Don't get me wrong, for some it could be quite the opposite, but this is from my perspective of the Christmas holidays over the past 30 years.
