Do you have a special dinner on New Year's Eve?

Do you like to have a special dinner planned on New Year's Eve? If so, what is your favorite dinner food for New Year's Eve?

yes, we will have and it is our tradition already in order to celebrate the coming new year. To attract good vibes and luck too. It is also about getting together with your love ones and happily welcome the coming 2014. We would love to eat buko pandan or anything that is delicious smile

I am having a New Years Eve dinner.   This may sound funny, but I have a delicious Pork Stew recipe that my friends love, of Pol Martin's.  I am doing that, but my cousin is a vegetarian, so she is bringing a seafood casserole and I am doing a Nicoise Salad to compliment that.  Obviously we will need two separate dishes, but it should be fun.   smile

For some reason, I'm not sure if my grandparents did this, but somewhere I got the idea in my head that we have to have seafood on New Years.  So for the past few years (except last year because I was sick), we've had seafood dishes such as shrimp, lobster, etc.  We live on the East coast, so it's plentiful here.

But, this year I wanted beef.  I went to buy one of those standing rib roasts.  Ha!  At $38 for a slab for 4 people, there was no way I could afford that.  I found a modest beef roast instead.    I bought a bag of shrimp cocktail for Christmas Eve and it was $10 for about 20 shrimp.  I doubt I'll be doing that again either.

I also picked up a hotel style turkey breast and a ham for less than $10 a piece on sale after Christmas.  I have my choice this year.

Hi Crafty, Sounds like you have a great plan after checking off all of the expensive items! My goodness ...certain food items can be outrageous. Happy New Year and enjoy your dinner, Faith Reaper
