GREAT Gift & Party Ideas for the Minecraft Lover

Updated on November 7, 2013

Buying for the MInecraft Geeks

In the last year, both of my children, my daughter and my son, have become Minecraft addicts. All their neighbor friends and school friends are into it as well. With this in mind, I needed to do a little digging to get some winning ideas for gifts for all the birthday parties coming up.

Minecraft is a social style game where kids can interact and live and play in a virtual world. That is about the extent of my knowledge of why they play, but I know some about what things they like that are geared around MInecraft.

My son has a poster, 2 graphic t-shirts, halloween costume and toys fashioned after the tools used in Minecraft. So, here we go -- What to get for those many birthdays coming up.

Themed Costume Minecraft Birthday Parties - Also, great for Halloween

With Minecraft becoming SO popular, stores are beginning to carry more and more of the merchandise. Justice Brother's Stores, just began selling the shirts and now the "Heads" for the costumes. My son, last year was a Creeper. He bought a green morph suit, solid green, and then made a Creeper head out of cardboard. This worked really well, especially since Minecraft wasn't so prominent a year ago.

Now you can make or buy a cute costume to help out with a themed birthday party or a GREAT Halloween costume. Here is one that is a Telescope Creeper. The boxes are such that the child can turn at the waist. Super Cute!

Clothing for Party and School

My son wanted a new Minecraft shirt so badly for this years school, because his last one he grew out of. That shirt was VERY well worn. His love for them lets me know that this is a great go-to idea for a party gift -- if you can guess their size. I bought his on eBay, but they are also available in many other places. Justice Brothers has them, as well as the minecraft site. Just google it and you will find tons.

I bought him the "I porkchop Minecraft" -- doesn't make much sense to me, but he LOVES it. There are creepers, steve, square worlds, "like a boss", ghost creeper ones and sooo much more. Check them out! Any design is sure to be a hit.

Minecraft -- Party Ideas

Minecraft has so many small things that can be made for decorations or party favors. All of the food on minecraft is simple to make by printing out a pic of it and mounting it on some stiff cardboard -- also you can do this with diamonds, emeralds, rubies, etc. These would be great little gifts or ways to decorate the cake table

Have some pick axes and swords made for play time. Also, if you have these items pre-cut before time, then you can have it as a craft and something to take home.

This could also be used as the card on your gift bag.

Cake ideas

Since the cardboard cut outs are simple and easy to make, try having or making a cake out of some of the designs. Since they are all square designs, cake decorating can be fairly simple. Here is a block cake that can be made with frosting as well instead of fondant. Just remember it HAS to be square --- round doesn't cut it with true Minecraft lovers. :)

My husband got me into it. He and his friends run a server which has players from ages 9/10 to in their late twenties/early thirties. Everyone knows at least one person in real life, so we can feel comfortable with each other. Thanks for sharing these ideas!

This is the first time I have heard of this, but I will keep my ears and eyes open and when I do I will know what they are talking about. New Zealand is a bit behind on all these cool new things, maybe christmas time I will see it around in the shops.

Thanks for sharing a interesting article, loved it.
