Best Gifts for Girls Ages 4 to 14
The Gifts You Always Remember
Throughout my childhood, I have gotten many gifts for Christmas and birthdays (and some in-betweens). Although many of them were nice, there are a select few which have always stood out. Those are the type of gifts I try to give others. The ones they use and always look back on with good memories. I wanted to share a few with you and hopefully get a little inspiration going for your own gift-giving.

American Girl Doll
One of my favorite gifts of all time was my American Girl Doll. I had/still have the Samantha doll. Sadly, they do not make Samantha anymore but my friend did love her Josephina the same way I loved my Samantha. My little sister had the doll of today and we would play for hours with them. Both of us had a little wardrobe filled with everything from the book clothes to Halloween costumes and my beloved figure skating outfit. Along with the dolls, we also had all the books and read them over and over. My sister and I loved getting the American Girl Doll magazine and would go over every page sighing at the cute new clothes. I will always remember this gift because it is one I still have. Someday, if I have a little girl, she will get my doll and can play with it all over again.
Outfits for Modern American Girl Dolls - Not Even My Doll Could Ever Have Enough Clothes!
One of the best parts of the American girl doll is the huge range of outfits available. I loved the little figure skating outfit which reminded me of my own lessons. My sister and I would share clothes and our dolls would have tea parties with each other. We even had the American Doll beds for them to sleep in when we weren't playing.
I used to take figure skating lessons so I was thrilled my doll could look the part ofmy favorie sport.
Adorable pajamas for her to 'sleep' in nightly comfort.
The Original Rock Tumbler - Perfect for a beginning rock collector!
At the age of 23, I am still waiting to use my rock tumbler. My father bought it for me since I was always collecting rocks as a kid. My mother took one look, announced it was to noisy and I have been waiting to find a place to use it ever since. I believe it to be one of the coolest gifts of all time. Yes. I can see how my mother would not want to hear rocks tumbling around for three weeks straight but the final result is amazing! Perhaps that is why I use so many rocks in my jewelry, I just love knowing how something so rough and boring can turn out looking so amazing!
Refill Rocks for Your Tumbler - Jewelry Kit for tumbled rocks too
You cannot just stick any type of rock in a rock tumbler. The best is to buy rough rocks that are sure to have the same level of hardness and are good for tumbling. If the rocks are all differently hard, the strongest ones will leave scratches on the others. Also, consider what you want to see at the end. Agates look beautiful after being tumbled...if you do not believe me, then look at the polished cabochons squidoo. The agate there is wrapped delicately and brings out its shine and beauty.
Get her a Dollhouse
You can make your own or buy one pre-made (like the one shown below). Either way, it's still a gift which she can treasure always.
When my sisters and I were little, my mother made each of us a dollhouse. No. She did not buy them all assembled. My mother actually bought a kit and assembled all of them piece by piece, shingle by shingle. We used to play for hours in our dollhouses. My mother would make or buy us new furniture pieces and we had everything you could ever want for one. At Christmastime, we could put up our dollhouse decorations complete with little presents under the tree. We each had a dollhouse family so we could all interact together and visit each other. I still have mine (somewhere in the attic) and so do my sisters. I will never get rid of it and give it one day to my child (that is, if I have one). Nothing says I love you more than creating something solely for you. The hundreds of hours still mean so much to me and her work will always amaze me!
Adorable Dollhouse Families to Make Their House a Home
Every beautiful dollhouse deserves a beautiful family to live in it. So make sure you choose just the right one for your girl's special dollhouse.
Wooden Dollhouse Furniture - Style as you wish
Every dollhouse requires furniture and sometimes the best way to go about it is by perfectly complimenting it to your dollhouse. Wood furniture can be stained to match your exact tastes and gives a classic feel over the more modern plastics.
Candle Making Kit Comple with Wax Sheets, Wick, & Instructions - Make sure your Candle Making kit comes complete!
When I first got this, I wasn't sure what to think. Then I opened it and fell in love. I made candles looking like pumpkins, like my dog, formed them into people's names..etc. Of course, no one actually lit my candles as I probably molded the wax beyond using (I was very enthusiastic about this kit). Inside are different colored sheets of wax and shapes to cut out of them with a strand of wick of course. If you are like me, you go with the cutting things out nicely twice and then go crazy with just molding and reforming your own ideas. My mother was wonderful and kept all my loved creations for years until finally they were dust hazards and got lost in the move. Still, I had the time of my life with this kit and fully recommend it to any kid who loves crafty things.
Candle Making Wax Sheets and Cookie Cutters - Do not forget wicks for your candle kit
Wax sheets are available in just about any color so you can make sure to get what they like best. You may also want to pick up some extra wick as well. My kit came with what looked like mini cookie cutters. They can be perfect for getting the exact shape you want and wax is very easy to press through. Just make sure to keep them for you wax and not cookies.
Easy-Bake Oven *Ultimate Oven - Easy Bake Oven. Perfect for little girls wanting to cook!
I loved my easy-bake oven. My favorite was to make brownies and give them to people all over the house. My mother would buy me the little mixes and I would spend my time making mini desserts. The best part was sliding the little pan inside and watching the light go on. I was so excited to make everything! Once my father just asked why I didn't use the real oven. Who would want to? The easy-bake oven was so much more fun!

The Chronicles of Narnia Box Set - The Complete 7 Book Collection for the Fantasy Lover
Before the days of e-reader, I used to be big into reading actual books. One of my favorite book gifts was the Chronicles of Narnia. I read them over and over (my favorite definitely being the Voyage of the Dawn Treader). If they don't have an e-reader than consider getting them an actual set of books. The complete collection is not overly expensive and the whole series is at their fingertips. The books have everything, a little humor, lots of adventure, and more and more.
The Chronicles of Narnia on DVD and Blu-Ray
I am not a fan of the movies but if they are more into movies than books, you can also consider getting them the Chronicles of Narnia. Many of the books have become popular movies.
By now, you may have gotten the idea I really liked doing crafty stuff as a child. This is one of my favorite gifts. I loved making the sand art. You could make such cool-looking gifts by pouring the sand in different ways. When I was little, I made sand art gifts for my grandparents in Germany. They kept it (much to my embarrassment now) for years and years. I'm sure no one was to happy when I got a little sand all over but it was completely worth it for the fun I had. I highly recommend it.
Sand Art Necklaces, Bracelets, and Refill Kits - Safari Bottles and Glo Sand now Available
Now you can make just about anything, bracelets, pendants, and any type of bottle imaginable. I was always running low on sand art bottles so a gift of resupply was always appreciated. Also, they have glo sand art now! Where were all these cool things when I was little?
