So You're Riding the Last Minute Bus. Well, That's Okay...
Who said you needed to go out and actually buy something this year? It's the last minute and the odds of you actually wanting to go to the mall are slim. So instead, find a nice basket you have laying around the house and jazz it up!
Bake a few different batches of cookies and make the cookie gift baskets varied. You could even use the cookies to make several different gift baskets and cover a few different gifts you needed to get!
Picture Frames - To Use
Spruce Up Some Pictures
Make it Special
If you're like me, you probably have all kinds of pictures laying around from all the years past. Why not use these pictures for something fun and creative? Odds are, you have an old frame laying around that you got as a bridal shower favor or just as a gift, and you never got around to using it. Now you can!
Use scrapbooking paper or just a solid color as a background and glue or tape the photo(s) to look nice or form a neat pattern, depending on the frame size. You can use markers or print off quotes or phrases to layer on as well. When your frame is all done, wrap it nicely. If you have a new ornament you don't like or haven't used, try attaching that to the bow as an added bonus. It'll look pretty and provide a nice memento.

Practical Items They'll Use
At The Mall
If you know you're going to end up at the mall, then there's items there that you can get for gifts that are very practical yet nice to get as holiday gifts. To start, you need to know the person you are buying for and what they like to do. What do they do for work? Is he a business man? If so, then find a unique tie or two. Is he a big golfer? Make him a golf gift basket with some golf balls, tees, a golf towel, and maybe an aluminum water bottle or whatever else you can find in the sports section.
And for her, is she a mother? There are all kinds of little plaques and wooden signs these days that outline the joys of being a mother (both humorous and serious). Is she a hard worker? Try giving her a gift card to the nearest spa or salon. It's nice to be able to treat her to a service that she'd never go get herself (massage, manicure, pedicure, facial, etc.)
The Ultimate Easy Gift
Sure, they're not 'as personal' as other gifts would be. But if you know what they like, it can still be very meaningful. If you know that they're a hunter or fisher, try giving them a gift card to Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, or Dick's Sporting Goods. If they're an athlete, try a gift card to a sporting store such as Sports Authority, Nike, Adidas, or even REI.
For the fashionista, try stores such as Target, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Anthropologie, Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, or similar stores. For the high-end fashionista, good stores for gift cards include Macy's, Nordstrom, DSW, or similar.
For kids, opt for toy stores or a big box store that sells toys such as Target or Walmart. Toy stores might include Toys'R'Us, Games by James, Creative Kidstuff or something close. Just make sure that they have one nearby or your gift card might get dusty.
Know Their Personality
The gifts mean so much when you take time to think about what the recipient likes. Think about hobbies, sports, and other things they do.
The Gift of Subscription
They'll Thank You... Every Month
Nowdays it is so easy to purchase subscriptions to nearly any magazine out there. You can even do it online! If you know a magazine that they'd love, opt to pay for a year's worth of subscriptions to that magazine. Usually it doesn't even cost that much (under $20) and they'll be thankful for your gift every month! This is a great idea for when you're looking for inexpensive holiday gifts.
If you want to browse magazines to see what they might like, try Magazines.com. They even have some great deals running around this time of year that would be great for you as the buyer.
